Corey Anderson returns at the upcoming UFC 232 pay-per-view event against a tough opponent as the UFC has officially announced the fight through the power of social media.

Anderson is slated to fight Ilir Latifi in a light heavyweight bout, which is the latest addition to the UFC’s year-end event. The promotion announced the fight on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. The bout first was reported by Kimura.se.

Corey Anderson Returns

Anderson is coming off wins in back-to-back fights after suffering knockout losses to Jimi Manuwa and Ovince Saint-Preux in 2017. Back in April, he was able to score a decision from Patrick Cummins. Moving along to July, he picked up a decision win over former title contender Glover Teixeira at UFC Hamburg.

He got his start in the promotion after winning the Season 19 light heavyweight tournament on The Ultimate Fighter back in 2014. Once he entered the UFC, he was able to win five of his first six fights. However, he then lost three out of four fights before his current run.

Ilir Latifi’s Path

On the flip side, Latifi enters this fight on a hot streak as he has won five of his past six overall. He was on a three fight winning streak before suffering a knockout loss to Ryan Bader in September 2016. This led to him picking up a decision win over Tyson Pedro at UFC 215. Then a submission win over Saint-Preux at UFC on FOX 28 in Florida back in February.

The UFC 232 pay-per-view event is set to take place on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET. The preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass.

The promotion will be announcing more bouts in the coming weeks. UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Justino vs. UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes is targeted as the main event.

Sorry, but the double champ does what the f—k he wants.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) created a monster, and now that monster has escaped the lab and they have no idea how to control it.

Sound familiar?

Former lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, is gearing up for his UFC 229 pay-per-view (PPV) main event, where he’ll face the division’s most punishing ground fighter in the form of undefeated Sambo sensation Khabib Nurmagomedov.

And despite the tomfoolery that accompanies all things McGregor, one thing you can never take away from “Notorious” is his desire to win. With that in mind, the power-punching Irishman has shut down the media — and just about everyone else — as he trains for what could be the most challenging fight of his career.

And UFC isn’t happy about it, according to Dave Meltzer’s newsletter (subscribe here):

One of the reasons you haven’t seen much in the way of interviews and such is that McGregor has not agreed to do anything. There are no press conferences scheduled because McGregor at this point hasn’t agreed to them. There is a lot of frustration within the UFC about McGregor’s attitude, but in the end, he’s got the leverage and the ticket sales and secondary market results only give him more leverage.

The feeling is that this may be the biggest non-boxing PPV of all-time, and the only reason it wouldn’t be is that McGregor hasn’t been pushing it hard. McGregor was able to get a larger piece of the action for this fight than any of his UFC fights to date, so there is a direct correlation more than ever between his work in promoting the fight and his pocket book, but this may also show that he knows he’s in a real fight and doesn’t want to break training.

While McGregor is never really out of the gym for an extended period of time, there is a marked difference between “training” and preparing for an actual mixed martial arts (MMA) fight, which includes but is not limited to gameplanning, weight cutting, and long hours inside the gym.

McGregor also has to take into account that he’s not stepped foot inside the cage for over two years and will be faced with an opponent who could probably do 10 rounds without breaking a sweat, whereas McGregor has been known to struggle with his cardio.

Either way, don’t expect much from “Notorious” in the way of public appearances until we get much closer to fight night, when Team McGregor descends upon “Sin City,” and UFC can’t do a damn thing about it because of his impact on the promotion’s bottom line.

Kevin Lee Eyeing Fight With Justin Gaethje Over Al Iaquinta

Lee is changing his tune about the potential bout against Iaquinta

Kevin Lee eyeing fight with Justin Gaethje over Al Iaquinta despite rumors of a fight against the former title contender that is slated to go down later this year. Recent reports have surfaced online that it could go down at the last UFC on FOX event.

Original Fight

Gaethje came out earlier this week and explained that he had a problem with this fight taking place under the UFC banner. Apparently, that was enough for Lee to consider making a change to his plans put into place by the promotion.

Lee picked up a TKO win in the fifth round over Edson Barboza in the main event of UFC Atlantic City (April 21, 2018). This event went down at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on FOX Sports 1.

Lee missed weight in his first attempt for his scheduled bout at UFC Atlantic City. Lee weighed in at 157 pounds with only three minutes to spare in the two-hour window. This marked the first time that he had missed weight.

Kevin Lee Eyeing Fight

Lee stated in a recent interview is leaning towards a fight with the former WSOF Champion over Iaquinta.

“I like the Gaethje fight,” said Lee to MMA Junkie. “I think that’s the one I’m leaning toward. Gaethje wants to fight. Gaethje doesn’t give a (expletive). We talk about it ourselves. He’s too back and forth, and I’m not about to sign a contract with anybody that I don’t think is going to show up, or is going to give me a bunch of hassle and back and forth,” Lee said. “He wants to go back and forth on Twitter more than anything.

“It’s like, look, bro, I’m working. Don’t bother me. Quit (expletive) tweeting me. If you want me, then there’s two or three people you have to go through to get to me for a reason.”

UFC on FOX 31 (also known as UFC Milwaukee) is set to take place on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The main card will air on FOX Sports 1. The preliminary card will be split broadcasted on FOX Sports 1 and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass.
