UFC 196 went down this past weekend (Sat., March 5, 2016) inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and now it’s time to see who went home with the biggest slice of the Reebok sponsorship pie.

For complete UFC 196: “McGregor vs. Diaz” results and coverage of all the night’s action click here.

The biggest sponsorship earner of the night was Holly Holm, who walked away with a massive $40,000 check from the sports apparel giant in a losing effort against Miesha Tate.

Speaking of Tate, she came in second in sponsorship payouts, banking $30,000, making her upset championship win over Holly that much sweet. Nate Diaz, Diego Sanchez and Jim Miller all earned $20,000 extra, while Conor McGregor –who was choked out by the aforementioned Diaz — only banked $5,000.

Of course, his guaranteed $1 million check for headlining UFC 196 will more than make up the difference. Check out the rest of the Reebok payouts courtesy of MMA Junkie

Nate Diaz: $20,000 def. Conor McGregor: $5,000
Miesha Tate: $30,000 def. Holly Holm: $40,000
Ilir Latifi: $5,000 def. Gian Villante: $10,000
Corey Anderson: $5,000 def. Tom Lawlor: $10,000
Amanda Nunes: $5,000 vs. Valentina Shevchenko: $2,500
Siyar Bahadurzada: $2,500 def. Brandon Thatch: $2,500
Nordine Taleb: $2,500 def. Erick Silva: $10,000
Vitor Miranda: $2,500 def. Marcelo Guimaraes: $2,500
Darren Elkins: $10,000 def. Chas Skelly: $5,000
Diego Sanchez: $20,000 def. Jim Miller: $20,000
Jason Saggo: $2,500 def. Justin Salas: $5,000
Teruto Ishihara: $2,500 def. Julian Erosa: $2,500

TOTAL: $220,000

So, how are payouts determined?

According to the revamped payout structure (see it), the more fights you have combined with UFC and the now-defunct World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) and Strikeforce promotions, the more coin you have for your combat sports piggy bank.

And the less fights you have under the ZUFFA banner… well, the less you get. If you have a problem with the structure, take it up with UFC, not Reebok.

According to the report, fighters will also receive royalty and payments up to 20-30 percent of any UFC-related merchandise sold that bears his or her likeness. That’s a great way for the Internet “morons” to help the cause.

UFC 196 — which saw Nate Diaz upset Conor McGregor and Miesha Tate dethrone Holly Holm — is now in the book (results here), so what better time to start looking ahead toward Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) next pay-per-view (PPV) offering than the present.

The mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion has unveiled the official fight poster of UFC 197, which is set to pop off from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on April 23, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The event will be headlined by a much-anticipated rematch that will see Daniel Cormier defend his Light Heavyweight title against Jon Jones in what will be the former champion’s first fight back from a tumultuous 2015 that saw him get stripped of the title following a hit-and-run accident

The two men initially collided at UFC 182 in January of 2015, which saw Jon retain his 205-pound title against he former Olympic wrestler by walking away with a dominant unanimous decision win.

This time around, the stakes are much higher, as “Bones” looks to prove to the world that he is indeed the best 205-pound fighter on the planet, while Cormier looks to silence his naysayers by going out and demonstrating why he truly deserves to have the strap around his waist.

In the co-main event of the evening, UFC Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson looks to add on to his -ever-impressive resume when he defends his 125-pound strap agaisnt Olympic gold medalist, Henry Cejudo in a bout that promised to provide “Mighty Mouse” with his most dangerous test to date.

Who says you can’t go home?

No. 1-ranked welterweight contender and former title challenger Rory MacDonald (18-3) will put his position atop the 170-pound division on the line against streaking kickboxing import Stephen Thompson in the UFC Fight Night 89 main event, emanating from Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on June 18, 2016.

UFC announced the main event yesterday during the promotion’s Unstoppable seasonal press conference. It’s also expected to air on FOX Sports 1 and the digital streaming service Fight Pass.

“Red King” will return to action in the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion’s debut in Canada’s capital following his bloodbath with current 170-pound titleholder Robbie Lawler last July. Initially thought to be facing former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard, the 26-year-old MacDonald will clash with the knockout artist Thompson.

Thompson (12-1) has won six straight in the Octagon, including his quick dismissal of previous welterweight champion Johny Hendricks at UFC Fight Night 82 one month ago. “Wonderboy” flattened “Bigg Rigg” using his entire arsenal and made a statement in “Sin City,” but not all were convinced he should be fighting for the strap, as the former argued after the big victory.

There have been no other contests announced for the UFC Fight Night 89. Stick with MMAmania.com and we’ll be sure to bring you the latest on the card as it begins to take shape.

Dana White: Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Claudia Gadelha had ‘full-blown fist fight’ after TUF 23 filming

UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and No. 1 contender Claudia Gadelha don’t like each other.

It’s as simple as that.

Their rivalry goes back to Dec. 2014 when the two first fought to a close split-decision, which was ultimately awarded to the Polish striker Jedrzejczyk. Gadelha had thrown a punch after the final bell, but immediately apologized for it.

Fast forward over 12 months later and the two combustible elements are coaching opposite each other on the set of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 23, which will premier on April 20, 2016 on FOX Sports 1. As those close to the fighters expected, it didn’t go off without a hitch.

UFC president Dana White, who was there on set during the finale staredown between Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha, claims that a brutal fight occurred between the pair right on the very last day.

From White’s conversation with MMA Fighting:

“Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha, on the last day of filming when everything shut down, got into a full-blown fist fight. Head kicks. Nasty fight in The Ultimate Fighter gym. The show is over, the cameras were put away. The sad and scary part was very few people were left in the gym. The last day of The Ultimate Fighter is almost like the last day of school. Everybody is signing each other’s stuff and all this other stuff. You noticed when they were showing each other the water bottles [during the press conference]? Joanna Jedrzejczyk hit her with a water bottle and that’s how the fight started. Wait until you see this season of The Ultimate Fighter with these two. They hate each other and the staredown in the gym was even crazy before the fight happened.”

This wasn’t the first brawl to occur on the TUF set and it likely won’t be the last.

Although I’m sure Jedrzejczyk and Nova Uniao’s Gadelha cannot wait to don the four-ounce gloves, they will have to wait four more months to throw down inside the Octagon when they butt heads in the main event of the TUF 23 Finale on July 8.

No word yet on whether they will garner extra security at weigh ins.

Diaz To Anik: You Better Get A Motherf***ing ‘209’ Tattoo

UFC color commentator Jon Anik made waves earlier this week when he made a bold statement regarding UFC 196’s main event between featherweight champion Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.

Heading into the bout, McGregor was a massive favorite over the late replacement Diaz, and Anik believed that the “Notorious” one would get the job done.

Anik was so confident in the Irishman that he offered to get a ‘209’, which is the area code of Diaz’s home in Stockton, California, tattoo if Diaz were to win.

Well, Anik has been forced to eat his words, as Diaz shocked the world last night (March 5, 2016), submitting McGregor via rear naked choke in the second round.

Nearing the end of the post-fight press conference, Diaz took his chance to fire back at Anik one more time:

“Yo! Yo! Yo!” Diaz yelled. “Jon Anik better get a motherf—ing ‘209’ tattoo or ima whoop his little ass.”

Later on during a media scrum, Diaz was asked if he would pay for the tattoo, responding in a friendly, and joking matter:

“No! Jon Anik should pay for his own tattoo!” Diaz replied when asked if he would pay for what would be Anik’s first ever ink work. “He’s the one who said I was going to lose, and he said he was going to get this tattoo.”

“…I’m just kidding,” Diaz said with a laugh. “Jon Anik, you ain’t got to get no tattoo.”

Although Diaz laughed it off, Anik took to his official twitter account to praise the Stockton native for his spectacular performance:

Undoubtedly the best win of his career, Diaz should be in line for a huge fight next if not a title shot.

How surprised were you by the outcome of last night’s event?
