While UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is preparing to become a double champ this weekend at UFC 259 against Light Heavyweight king Jan Blachowicz, he certainly has not forgotten about the division he has wiped clean.

During a recent interview this week with ESPN, the champion was asked which fighter intrigues him the most at middleweight. Adesanya responded with none of them, except that of Darren Till, and told Ariel Helwanithat Till’s Muay Thai style excites him very much.

However, Adesanya added that Till will need keep winning his fights for the bout to come to fruition, most notably his next bout against Marvin Vettori in April.

To be honest… None of them except Till. And I just keep saying, I hope he keeps winning so we can have that fight because you know the vibes. I just like that style… If he wants to be that Muay Thai master and he thinks he can stand up with me, be my guest. Ya I like Till, I like the style and I’ll like to fight him but he just gotta win man. He just gotta get his shit together and keep winning Till,” Adesanya said. (Transcribed by Sporstkeeda)

While Adesanya certainly will have plenty of options if he were to capture the Light Heavyweight crown this weekend, he most notably has been calling out Jon Jones for a fight, even considering a move up to the heavyweight division to chase the Light Heavyweight G.O.A.T.

And while Till has lost 3 of his last 4, against top contenders, Adesanya remained adament about fighting him one day and has been for a good while now.

It would certainly be a fight with exponential build up and promos between two of the most popular fighters in the world today. Stylistically, it would serve as a fight that would be hard to disappoint.

When do you think we will see Adesanya vs Till? How do you see it playing out?

He may have a title defense coming up this weekend, but Petr Yan is already looking towards the future.

The bantamweight champion defends his title for the first time against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 259. At 7-0, Yan has yet to taste defeat in the UFC and expects that to continue this Saturday. In a recent interview with Fanatics View, while he made sure to not overlook Sterling, he said he already has eyes on what’s next for him (H/T MMA Mania).

“If I win easy over Sterling, next fight has to be very big. Sandhagen, he lost to Sterling. I think maybe Dillashaw,” Yan said. “T.J. Dillashaw is back after doping tests and I want to fight him.”

Sandhagen has staked his claim to be the next title challenger following back-to-back knockouts over Marlon Moraes and Frankie Edgar, running his UFC record to 7-1. He has also been a vocal critic of Dillashaw getting a title shot upon his return, saying that decision would be “garbage”.

Dillashaw has recently been cleared to compete again following a two-year suspension from USADA for a failed drug test. Prior to his suspension, Dillashaw was the reigning bantamweight champion after winning and defending the title in a pair of fights against Cody Garbrandt. He has been adamant that he is worthy of an immediate title shot upon his return, but the UFC has yet to say what will happen after UFC 259.

Of course, before any future matchmaking can take place, Yan first has to get past a worthy challenger in Sterling. ‘The Funkmaster has won five in a row, including wins over Jimmie River and Pedro Munhoz, as well as dominating Sandhagen in fewer than 90 seconds. His unique style of wrestling and grappling has given his past opponents fits, and he believes Yan will be no different.

Do you think Petr Yan is overlooking Sterling? Who should he fight next if he wins?

According to a report, Conor McGregor will soon be able to take “whiskey mogul” off his business cards.

Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey was launched in September 2018 by Eire Born Spirits, a company founded by McGregor and Audie Attar. It has since gained a substantial foothold in the global market, being worth an estimated $200 million. However, according to a recent press release from Becle, McGregor’s time with the company may be coming to an end. The release states: “On February 23, 2021, the Company provided notice of the exercise of its call option to acquire 51% of the equity interests of EBS.”

Becle initially held a 20% stake in the company before increasing it to 49%. It now appears they have bought out the remaining 51%, giving them full control of the company. While McGregor could potentially stay on as a spokesperson for the brand, it looks like his time as business partner is done.

With his venture into the whiskey business coming to an end, McGregor can now give his full attention towards returning to the octagon. ‘The Notorious’ is coming off a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257. That fight was his first in a year, and only his fourth in the last five years. After the fight, McGregor blamed his inactivity for his performance, and said he hoped to fight three times this year. A trilogy fight against Poirier has been rumored for sometime in the summer, and according to an Instagram post last month, is what McGregor is anticipating (H/T BJPenn).

“I am most certainly on the right path,” McGregor wrote in the post. “Despite the loss I am on the correct path of evolution. Thoughts on the bout: I enjoyed racking up some more time inside the famed UFC Octagon. 40 seconds in 3 years is all I’d had up to this bout. I was savouring very second and enjoying my work. A little single disciplined in my approach and stance with mostly boxing. It’s what I get for picking this bout and opponent as a precursor to a boxing match against Pacman. I deserved to get the legs kicked off me going in with this thinking. This is not the game to play around with.

“Besides this tho my shots where sharp and I was in full control,” McGregor added. “Albeit the leg attacks where building up on me throughout the course. 18 in total thrown at me, with the final one buckling my leg fully, that was that. The peroneal nerve compromised. Fascinating! First time to experience it. Then a tremendous finishing flurry by my opponent. Hats off! A well fought fight by The Diamond. 1 a piece now with a Trilogy bout for all the marbles! Wow! Exciting! Not a trilogy I was expecting, nor the tactical affair I was anticipating, but I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t meant to be. This is exactly how this was always meant to be! Buzzing!!”

Will being bought out of Proper No. Twelve be a good thing for Conor McGregor’s MMA career?

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to the pay-per-view (PPV) market this weekend with the UFC 259: “Blachowicz vs. Adesanya” mixed martial arts (MMA) event featuring three championship title fights on the main card from Las Vegas.

Broadcast plans for the March 6 fight card were shared by MMA Junkie and longtime color commentator Joe Rogan will join retired heavyweight Daniel Cormier alongside play-by-play man Jon Anik. As always, Bruce Buffer will handle the horn inside the cage.

Michael Eaves hosts the UFC 259 post-fight show with Chael Sonnen and Paul Felder while Megan Olivi takes care of roving interviews.

The PPV main card will be headlined by the light heavyweight title fight between Jan Blachowicz and Israel Adesanya, as “The Last Stylebender” bumps up from middleweight to test the might of “Polish Power.”

In addition, women’s featherweight champion Amanda Nunes collides with top contender Megan Anderson not long before bantamweight kingpin Petr Yan answers the call of 135-pound challenger Aljamain Sterling.
