On Saturday night, The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale brought fans a memorable night of fights. As is the tradition, the UFC awarded $50,000 bonuses for the best knockout, submission and fight of the night.

Competition for each of the awards were fierce, as most fights were brought to a competitive halt before the judges rendered a decision. Heading into the main event, fans were treated to eight stoppages, which included three submissions and five knockouts.

As if that weren’t enough, former WEC champion Urijah Faber ended the night on a bang when he choked out Scott Jorgensen in the evening’s headliner.

Submission of the Night, however, was not given to “The California Kid.” Instead, that award was given to Daniel Pineda, who wasted little time in defeating Justin Lawrence via kimura. The stoppage came 95 seconds into the evening’s opening contest.

Winning a Knockout of the Night award was even tougher. Despite excellent finishes from Cat Zingano, Josh Samman, Dylan Andrews and Clint Hester, it was heavyweight Travis Browne who fattened his bank account with a bonus check.

Browne knocked out Gabriel Gonzaga with a series of elbows while his Brazilian opponent was hunting for a takedown against the cage.

Fight of the Night went to Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano for their back-and-forth battle that was too close to call heading into the final round. Zingano ultimately earned the stoppage after rocking Tate with face-crushing knees.

On Saturday, April 13, the UFC has an incredible night of important fights at the Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale. The action will be intense and the stakes are very high.

Bantamweights Urijah Faber and Scott Jorgensen will do battle in an attempt to earn one more crack at UFC gold. Women’s bantamweights Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano are set to compete in a fight that serves not only as a title eliminator but also earns a coaching gig on TUF 18 for the winner. And if that’s not enough, we are crowning a new Ultimate Fighter winner.

With so much at stake, there is a lot to gain for many fighters all across the board. However, there is even more that can be lost.

Who has the most to lose on Saturday night?

Some would argue that the non-finalist members of The Ultimate Fighter have the most to lose. After all, in an era where the UFC hands out pink slips on a regular basis, it’s safe to say that any cast member who comes up short will be standing in the unemployment line on Monday.

While fighting for a job is a major feat, other pugilists can lose even more.

Headliners Faber and Jorgensen are hoping to earn title shots with a big win; however, both men have losses to reigning champions Dominick Cruz and Renan Barao, so a win on Saturday is far from a guarantee. For that reason, there isn’t enough on the line for either man.

If this was any other season of TUF, I would argue that Miesha Tate has the most to lose. After all, a win gives her a shot at redemption against a bitter rival who took her Strikeforce title, a UFC title shot and a coaching gig on The Ultimate Fighter, which would greatly elevate her status in the world of WMMA.

However, Miesha Tate is the runner-up in our look at those with a lot to lose. That is only because of the incredible hype surrounding one man on the card: Uriah Hall.

And no, I’m not just talking about the fact that Hall would miss out on the chance of becoming an Ultimate Fighter winner. While that is a major accomplishment, too many TUF losers have had outstanding UFC careers for me to think of that as being a tremendous gaffe.

Aside from the guaranteed championship fight for the winner of Season 4, Hall is the only cast member to be discussed as a title contender before even winning the tournament.

With a win on Saturday, the Jamaican finds himself on the fast track to greatness. With a loss, all of his hype goes up in smoke, possibly forever. For that reason, the terrifying monster who haunted the TUF 17 house is the man with the most to lose.

With UFC cards every Saturday in April, it is easy to overlook some of the action coming our way. This weekend, fans will be treated to a free night of fights on FX that are full of important divisional matchups that promise fireworks.

In the evening’s headliner, title contenders Urijah Faber and Scott Jorgensen meet in a matchup of bantamweight mainstays. Their scrap is expected to be a fast-paced war of technical boxing with bits of grappling brilliance sprinkled in for good measure.

Before that, women’s MMA returns to the UFC in a highly-anticipated matchup between Miesha Tate and undefeated contender Cat Zingano. The winner gets a coaching spot on next season’s TUF, as well as a title bout against Ronda Rousey.

On top of all that, we will be crowning a new Ultimate Fighter winner after one of the most entertaining seasons in the history of the program.

With all this action and more, this is a card you can’t afford to ignore. With any further ado, let’s take a look at The Ultimate Fighter 17 finale.

When the UFC returned to Sweden, there were a lot of reasons for Dana White to worry. Not only did the event’s most popular star get forced from the card on less than one week’s notice, but fighters in the main event and co-main event both entered their respective matchups with injury.

In the night’s headlining fight, Gegard Mousasi overcame injury and dominated late-replacement Ilir Latifi. The fight wasn’t pretty, but it showcased the lightning-fast jab of Mousasi and should be a tutorial for other lengthy fighters on how to fight from range.

As is true with every event, fans had questions heading into the show. Over the course of the card’s 13 scraps, there were plenty of answers provided.

Let’s take a look at questions answered and lessons learned at UFC on Fuel 9.
