On Saturday night, the wait is finally over. After 18 months of inactivity, welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre will step back into the Octagon in hopes of successfully defending his championship against Carlos Condit, the man holding an interim version of the same title.

With Canada being a hotbed for mixed martial arts activity, you can believe that the crowd will be electric for an event of this magnitude.

The evening’s co-main event features another welterweight contest. When hungry contenders Martin Kampmann and Johny Hendricks collide, they will be looking to parlay their hard work into a crack at the prestigious UFC welterweight championship.

Fast-rising Francis Carmont and Costa Philippou will look to continue building their momentum in the middleweight division when they take on Tom Lawlor and Nick Ring, respectively.

Kicking off the main card is a featherweight battle between exciting stars Mark Hominick and Pablo Garza.

Anything can happen in mixed martial arts, however, here are eight predictions about UFC 154 that you can take to the bank.

UFC on Fuel 6: Thiago Silva and 10 Fighters Who Are in Desperate Need of a Win

When Zuffa makes their way into Macau for Saturday’s UFC on Fuel event, it will be the first time that the Octagon has been set up in China. Although it is a night of UFC firsts, for some fighters, it could represent their final appearance in the organization.

One name who comes to mind is Blackzilian member Thiago Silva, who will step into the Octagon for the10th time in his five-year tenure. After a falsified urine test morphed a UFC 125 victory into a no contest, Silva’s record is winless since 2009 and has only seen his hand raised once in his past five appearances.

Silva is hardly the only member of the UFC roster who cannot afford to come up short once again. In the ultra-competitive landscape of modern MMA, even big-named fighters are coming up short more frequently than you’d expect.

Here is a look at 10 UFC fighters who are in desperate need of a win.

Earlier this year, I sat down with esteemed MMA music producer Mikey Rukus, the man responsible for many of the walkout tunes you hear in the UFC. After penning and recording original songs for the likes of Mark Hunt, Shogun Rua, The Gracie Family and more, as well as the theme song for Invicta FC, Rukus has become a fast-rising name in the MMA community.

Not taking his place in the sport for granted, Rukus is already looking to do whatever he can to help to repair damage done to the homes of fighters by Hurricane Sandy last week. Quickly recording a new tune, the Virginia-based musician has released it on the website Fundrazr.

Many big names of the industry were impacted, including former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, middleweight contender Chris Weidman and popular MMA analyst Ariel Helwani.

From the donation page you can read a message from Mikey.

Hey guys, It is an honor to be a part of the mixed martial arts community. The storm that recently ripped apart the northern east coast has affected millions of people. Since the MMA community is such a tightly knit community, I want to do something to help one another.

Please make an effort to help those who truly need it the most right now. 5% goes to a service fee to host the fundraiser, and the remaining 95% will go to the fighter families it is intended to go to.

There is no official price to download the track, because anyone who donates any amount receives a download link for their generosity, regardless of the dollar amount attached.

To check out the tune and donate to an excellent cause, click the link above and follow the instructions on the website.

Chael Sonnen and 10 Fighters That Were Given Undeserved Title Shots

Chael Sonnen is one of the most polarizing figures that mixed martial arts has ever known. Between his overworked gift of gab, his money laundering scandal and his role in the testosterone epidemic that plagues MMA, there is no question that his place in history has already been created.

After being appointed as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter against UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, Sonnen is once again on the minds of every fan. At the end of the season, the two coaches will do battle for the big gold belt that has long eluded Sonnen.

With an official 0-2 record in the division, the Oregonian’s appointment as the top contender has rubbed many the wrong way.

Fans and MMA pundits alike have claimed that Sonnen getting a title shot denigrates the belt and makes our sport seem more like pro wrestling in the fact that a well-timed promo earns title shots more effectively than actually earning them in the cage.

Sonnen is far from being the first man to get an undeserved crack at the belt. Here is a look at 10 fighters who were given undeserved title shots.

MMA: Most Hyped Fighters That Fell Flat in the UFC

The reason that the Superbowl is the biggest event of the year is based on official rankings. After a season of play, teams move to the playoffs, where the best representatives of each league emerge to battle for the biggest prize in sports. The two teams playing have earned the right to call themselves the best in their respective league.

In mixed martial arts, promoting a fight between two of the baddest men on the planet can generate an enormous buyrate. However, without a regular season in which you compete against everyone in your division, a fighter doesn’t have the opportunity to make an undisputed claim that he is the best.

That’s where hype comes into play.

Anything can happen in mixed martial arts. Upsets occur on a regular basis as a way of reminding us that we cannot predict with 100 percent certainty who will win any given matchup.

Because of this ambivalence, hype can convince fans that some promising fighter is the next big thing in the business. By pushing the strengths of unproven or unworthy commodities, promoters can add a “must-see” level of intrigue to their next matchup.

Do you remember believing, if only for a second, that Dan Hardy could defeat Georges St-Pierre? Behold the power of hype.

Some hyped prospects are labeled as such early on in their careers, and eventually strap championships around their waists. Junior dos Santos, Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar are members of that elite club. Others didn’t fare quite so well.

Today, we focus on the losers. Here is a look at fighters who entered the UFC with a lot of hype, but failed to live up to the expectations.

Nick Diaz is as controversial as they come. He skips press conferences, gets into gang-style brawls the moment he feels slightly disrespected and has no issues in speaking his mind at any point in time.

The only attribute that matches the brashness of Diaz is his well-rounded talent inside the cage. Leaving Strikeforce with their welterweight championship and a 10-fight winning streak, the Cesar Gracie student then outclassed UFC legend BJ Penn in his organizational return.

When an injury to Georges St-Pierre delayed Diaz’s title shot for a second time, a bout with Carlos Condit for the interim championship was booked for UFC 142. Although Diaz lost the decision, fan debate over scoring criteria led to a second meeting for the two.

After a post-fight urinalysis came back positive for marijuana metabolites, the rematch was scrapped and Diaz was slapped with a one-year suspension, as well as a fine of nearly $80,000

With the Stockton bad boy eligible to return in February, the UFC should already be looking into an opponent for as early as Superbowl weekend.

Here are six options for Nick Diaz to face immediately upon his return.
