The Ultimate Fighter 13 has yet to begin airing, but we’re already excited about its finale fight card! WEC Lightweight Champion, Anthony Pettis admirably put his title-shot on the line to face Clay Guida this June 4th while current UFC Lightweight Champion, Frankie Edgar faces Gray Maynard a third time this May at UFC 130. Pettis could have waited in his place at the front of the long Lightweight contender line, but decided he would prove that he’s rightfully the number one contender by taking on and hopefully for his sake, beating the fighter in the UFC with possibly the greatest demonstrated cardio we’ve ever seen. But that’s just the headlining fight and the rest of the card is shaping up very nicely:

Main Card:
Lightweight bout: Anthony Pettis vs. Clay Guida
Lightweight bout: Jeremy Stephens vs. Jonathan Brookins

Preliminary Card:
Middleweight bout: Ed Herman vs. Tim Credeur
Featherweight bout: Josh Grispi vs. George Roop
Bantamweight bout: Scott Jorgensen vs. Ken Stone

You can find pre-sale and public ticket purchasing information: here.

The betting lines for the Clay Guida vs. Anthony Pettis bout have yet to be posted. It will be interesting who the lines will show as the favorite. Stay tuned to find the best TUF 13 Finale betting lines here at Fix!

These Women Should Just Kick Lyle Howry’s Ass

The Ultimate Women’s Challenge was the brainchild of Executive Producer, Lyle Howry whose IMDB credits alone tell me, he probably didn’t have the stuff to get this project aired on NBC as many within the MMA industry were lead to believe. The reality show started production over the summer and was believed to start airing in the Fall of 2010. But here we are approaching the end of Spring 2011 and wouldn’t you know no air date for the show has yet to be scheduled on any network and cast members have yet to be paid. Thus a lawsuit is born. MMAWeekly’s Damon Martin is reporting:

The suit filed by Nick Thompson on behalf of Kaitlin Young, Heather Clark, Angela Hayes, Barb Honchak, Angela Magana, Michelle Ould, and Patricia Vidonic claims the show and producers have stiffed them for more than a combined $50,000 for salaries, fight payments and bonuses, as well as medical expenses endured during the show’s filming.

In the original contract signed by the fighters with LHPE Entertainment and Lyle Howry Productions, fees were to be paid to the fighters from the show within ’30 to 45 days’ but as of yet according to the lawsuit, those involved are still waiting on the money.

The fighters were supposed to receive a weekly stipend during the filming of the show, which the suit claims were not paid. The fighters were to receive payment for participation on fights during the filming of the show, and they are claiming they have not been paid. The fighters were also supposed to receive medical compensation for their part on the show, which they are claiming non-payment on as well.

Good for the fighters for rallying together to try to get the money they’re owed, but it’s highly likely this production is broke and they’ll never see a dime. Once again, (and sadly) it looks like in the current world of Mixed Martial Arts, if the name Zuffa is not attached to a promotion or production, then the fighter is taking a risk on being paid.

And now to end on a happy note, pictures of the Ultimate Women’s Challenge hosts, Amber Nichole and Joanna Krupa:

Hey uh… Whatever Happened to Mandy Moore?

They said it would last forever.

They said it would last forever.

Remember when pop singer/actress Mandy Moore was a permanent fixture at UFC events? Joe Rogan called her a “UFC groupie”. They would put her sunshine smiling face up on the jumbo screens and it made the sport a little more mainstream with her celeb support. Even when she wasn’t at events, she’d walk around decked in UFC hoodies and t-shirts that seemed to claim her love for the sport was “as real as it gets”.

Looks like sh*t just got more real.

Looks like sh*t just got more real

Well… What the f*ck happened? Where’d she go? How do you just stop watching a sport? The answer? She got married! Hate to blame it all on the age old institution of marriage but, let’s explore the facts… There was once a report that Mandy Moore was dating Georges St. Pierre. And a rumor that she was hooking up with Dana White. And don’t forget that awful music video she made with Chuck Liddell as her heartbreaking love interest. Hmmm…. Now what did Joe Rogan call her again? A groupie? And then she goes and gets married to this guy. Gee, I don’t mean to be stereotypic, but do you really think he’s a UFC fan? And from that point on, we never saw Mandy again. But, come on can we blame the guy? Would you let your wife hang with a bunch of UFC fighters? Right.

Well, we definitely miss the pretty starlet. Take a moment to honor our MMA loving Mandy Moore with a look back at her UFC days below:

Anthony Pettis made national headlines with his “Showtime Kick” successfully revealed to us in his WEC 53 Lightweight title fight against Ben Henderson. And ever since, we’re sure most every MMA fighter has gone into the gym, taking a crack at it during training. Even a Heavyweight like Junior Dos Santos is practicing the famous off the cage kick while he’s in the gym preparing to get in the Octagon to meet fellow TUF 13 coach, Brock Lesnar. Dos Santos’ version of the kick is pretty good. He’s a big dude, so he’s no Fred Astaire, light off his feet but he keeps knocking down his training partner, holding the pads up for him and having a good laugh about it. Boy, we’d love to see him try this on Lesnar. Watch the video below:
