An MMA fight in Slovenia was brought to a sudden, jaw-smashing end when Croatian fighter Ivica Truscek leveled a devastating knockout kick to the face of his opponent (skip to the 5:10 mark for the kick).

The ridiculous knockout was spotted by the good people at MiddleEasy.com (h/t Stephen Douglas of The Big Lead).

According to MiddleEasy’s account, the kick occurred at Final Fight Championship 9 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, last Friday. Like all kicks to the head, it resulted in zero percent fun for the victim, Italian fighter Leonardo Zecchi.

The fight was over before either combatant could land a punch. The men bobbed back and forth, sizing each other up and circling. A pair of low kicks were traded, and then Truscek let fly the calamitous head kick.

His foot found Zecchi’s jaw a mere 15 seconds into the first round, and the Italian was left drifting through darkness on the canvas.

There’s no understating the brutality of a head kick delivered by a guy nicknamed “Terror” Truscek.

Ugh. Crunchy.

One can only marvel at the durability of the human body after seeing Zecchi take this kick, get up and then wryly mutter what appears to be congratulations to Truscek.

I don’t know what the Italian said, but I can imagine it was something along the lines of “Bro, I did not see that coming. Bravo.”

Even more ridiculous than the head kick was Truscek’s reaction to pulping Zecchi’s mandible. He didn’t even blink. The Croatian stepped back and watched calmly as the referee tended to the fallen fighter.

Considering that 14 of Truscek’s 24 victories as an MMA fighter have come by KO or TKO, he’s probably landed that kick before and knows the results are no joking matter.

Both men hugged it out, and one of the shortest and most violent MMA matches in recent memory came to a close.

This is why you have to love mixed martial arts. It’s the only sport where someone can get kicked in the face and still exchange pleasantries when the match ends.

In the face? In the faaaaace.

Ronda Rousey on Breasts in MMA: Gina Carano ‘Had a Fantastic Rack’

Mixed martial arts: “Where cleavage is a hinderance.”

Elite female UFC fighters are serious, serious athletes. As such, they think about any and all possible advantages they can gain over their adversaries. According to Ronda Rousey, one of those advantages is having smaller breasts.

The topic of breasts and their impact on MMA was discussed in ESPN The Magazine‘s latest “Body Issue,” which, among others, featured a photo spread of UFC fighter Miesha Tate. The issue featured an article by Amanda Hess titled, “You Can Only Hope to Contain Them,” which focused on female fighters dealing with boob issues while fighting in the Octagon.

The piece features an interview with UFC women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey. As usual, Rousey was brutally honest, and her candidness did not fail to provide for highly quotable material.

Rousey told Hess that she’s had difficulties keeping her breasts under wraps while grappling with opponents in the past. One particular fight against Liz Carmouche was especially troublesome, and she worried constantly about having a wardrobe malfunction.

She also gave her observations on women who reach the pinnacle of athletics, saying that large breasts aren’t often a characteristic of elite female athletes.

“Gina Carano was an amazing fighter, and she had a fantastic rack,” Rousey told Hess. “You don’t see big titties in the Olympics, and I think that’s for a reason.”

Hess’ article explains the difficulties fighters with larger breasts have versus those with less on their chest. For example, Hess cites that a fighter with a typical A-cup is carrying .43 pounds, while fighters with D-cups are carrying around four or more pounds of weight.

Between the weight, strain and possible wardrobe malfunction issues, it’s hard to say Rousey isn’t right.

With that being said, Gina Carano went 12-1-1 in her Muay Thai fighting career and 7-1 in MMA. So you can have an innate advantage at a sport, but your physical traits don’t necessarily dictate your level of success.

MMA Fighter KOs Opponent in 4 Seconds with a Kick to the Face

Mama said knock you out, but she didn’t say anything about doing it this quickly.

Four seconds is time enough for very few good things in life. It’s enough time to fall down the stairs, stub your toe or creep a girl out by staring too long. Generally speaking, only bad things happen in that amount of time.

Unless you’re Garrett Whitman, that is. In which case four seconds is time enough to banish a fellow cage fighter into the darkness.

According to Paul Sacca of Next Impulse Sports, Whitman is the fighter who ended a recent match against McKlaine McKinnon in the time it would take me to type his name into my cell phone.

The event was a Get Down Amateur Promotions fight in California, and I can only hope for the sake of these spectators that this was only one of the 10 fights Whitman was slated for on the night.

The match began with the usual touch of the gloves, and from there it was all unusual. Whitman (in the red) rounded on McKinnon quickly, and seeing an opportunity, he hauled off and kicked him in the face—a Brazil kick, to be exact—and the man in the black folded onto the mat like a lawn chair.

The crowd reaction was a mix of astonishment and excitement as Whitman hopped around the ring celebrating. McKinnon, on the other hand, lay limp-toweled on the mat, unmoving.

Fortunately for everyone, the downed fighter showed signs of consciousness and managed to raise his head and feet toward the end of the video. Whitman later accepted praise for the kick on Twitter, saying he practiced the move. He also said he hoped McKinnon was OK.

I have to say, you don’t typically see a man whose last name is phonetically identical to John McClane being dispatched so easily, especially by someone named “Garrett.”

Brush it off, McKlaine, and remember to mind those high-swinging branches next time.

Double fatality—definitely not a flawless victory.

MMA fighters Aaron Britt and Brandon Alexander’s managed to do the nearly impossible on Monday night by ending a cage match in a tie. Not something that happens often.

But then again, wild instantaneous double-knockouts aren’t exactly a dime a dozen these days either.

The fighters faced off in a bout in California, with Alexander in blue and Britt in red. The typical pre-match fanfare of yelling and pump-up fighter introductions followed, and the match began.

Several jabs and hooks were thrown, but 14 seconds into the match, well, something crazy happened.

Alexander delivers a leg whip, Britt blocks and both fighters step in to deliver a light-switching right hook. Their fists land on jaw at almost the exact same instant and both fighters crumple to the mat simultaneously.

The crowd doesn’t know what just happened, only that it was awesome. The judges seem equally confused about what to do, and after some deliberation they rule the match a draw.

Flip forward to the 3:58 mark and you can hear the increasingly annoying announcer scream “DOUBLE KNOCKDOWN… Rematch, June.”
