Joe Solecki banked another impressive submission win earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 25, 2023) at UFC Vegas 70 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada when the former Contenders Series standout stopped Octagon newcomer Carl Deaton with a second-round rear-naked choke.

Solecki was able to dictate the action from the opening bell as he tracked Deaton along the cage and eventually took his back. He applied a rear-naked choke for what seemed an eternity, but Deaton somehow survived. Solecki went back to the well in the second round with a timely takedown in the center of the cage and another transition to the back. This time around Solecki was able to find the window he needed to sink in the rear-naked choke and viciously put Deaton to sleep.

Check out the final moments above courtesy of UFC/ESPN.

Solecki, 29, is now 5-1 as a member of the UFC’s lightweight roster, only losing to Jared Gordon via split decision. He even has a win over veteran Jim Miller. Solecki was originally scheduled to fight rising French prospect Benoit Saint-Denis tonight so maybe UFC will look to re-book that matchup in the near future.

Stipe Miocic may get his chance to fight Jon Jones after all. All Jones has to do is get past Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 next weekend to win the vacant Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight title.

According to a report by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, UFC is looking to book a main event matchup between Jones and Miocic for International Fight Week this July in Las Vegas. It would be a massive fight and an all-time legendary heavyweight tilt that has been years in the making.

Unfortunately for fight fans drooling over this potential booking, Jones is currently staring down a five-round title fight opposite Gane at UFC 285 on Mar. 4. It will be the first time in over three years that Jones is competing inside of the Octagon. It will also be his heavyweight debut after taking the last 36 months to build muscle and prepare his body for the crossover.

While Jones left the sport back in 2020 as the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world nobody really knows how “Bones” will look in his awaited return. It’s possible that Jones takes over right where he left off and utilizes his elite fight IQ and natural athleticism to beat every heavyweight UFC puts in his way, but there’s a chance the increased punching power and size of his opposition proves too much for the 35-year-old veteran.

That said, it appears as if UFC is already banking on Jones prevailing at UFC 285 and colliding with Miocic later this year in Las Vegas. Miocic hasn’t fought since losing his UFC heavyweight title to Francis Ngannou back in 2021, but he’s the greatest heavyweight champion in UFC history and a fighter who has a well-rounded skill set to test Jones from bell-to-bell.

UFC 285 will go down on Mar. 4 live on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Miocic is expected to sit cageside to witness Jones’ main event title fight with Gane.

Jake Paul is claiming that his double-or-nothing bet with Tommy Fury has yet to be made official for their main event boxing match tomorrow afternoon (Sun., Feb. 26, 2023) live on ESPN+ and FITE+ pay-per-view (PPV) from Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. That’s because Fury hasn’t signed the contract that “Problem Child” sent to his lawyers.

Paul and Fury are finally ready to lock horns inside of the boxing ring this Sunday afternoon after nearly two years of scheduled fights and trash talk. Both social media stars believe they can win and even agreed to a double-or-nothing bet during Thursday’s press conference in Saudi Arabia.

It was proposed by Paul, who guaranteed to pay Fury double his pay if he wins. But if Paul wins then Fury would get nothing for his main event showing. Team Fury, including Tommy’s father, John, quickly accepted the terms before a brawl nearly broke out after a handshake. It seemed as if the bet was official.

Paul and Fury even came together after the press conference to “sign” the contract. Check it out below:

Despite all of this, Paul is now claiming that Fury has yet to officially sign the contract after sending it over to his lawyers. “Problem Child” posted the below video to Twitter early Saturday morning following official weigh ins explaining the situation.

“As you guys saw the bet yesterday on stage Tommy agreed to it. Shook my hand onstage. His dad said that they were agreed to it so I signed the contract right in front of them,” said Paul. “We send it over to their lawyers and just as I thought they have gone as silent as a mouse for the last 24 hours. They do not want to sign the contract. Just goes to show that they have this false confidence. Put your money where your mouth is. You shook on it like a man. And now you guys haven’t signed the actual contract to make the deal official.”

Thoughts?

Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be back in exhibition action later today (Sat., Feb. 25, 2023) live on Zeus streaming service from inside O2 Arena in London, England. “Money” will be putting his undefeated boxing record on the line against TV personality and former Bellator MMA fighter, Aaron Chalmers.

As expected, Mayweather is a massive betting favorite entering this fight. The former world champion boxer has been banking millions off these exhibition matches following his official retirement from pro boxing back in 2017 and Chalmers is just the next name on his list. Mayweather should have no problem taking care of business on enemy soil and reminding the boxing world that he’s still a tactician inside of the ring.

That said, this Saturday afternoon boxing match in London should be entertaining as hell. Chalmers is an aggressive type of fighter that has crazy confidence in all combat settings so it will be interesting to see how hard he can push Mayweather.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran Alan Belcher turned in a memorable outing last night (Fri., Feb. 24, 2023) at BKFC 36 live BKFC.tv from inside Pontchartrain Convention and Civic Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Belcher ended up finishing Arnold Adams with a third-round knockout to capture the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) heavyweight title.

Belcher came into this fight with a perfect 3-0 record under the BKFC banner and was someone who many thought would cruise to a win. Unfortunately for Belcher, Adams wanted to walk away with the heavyweight title as well. He scored two knockdowns over the first few rounds and had Belcher on his heels entering the second half of the fight.

But as we know, bare knuckle boxing offers unprecedented momentum swings at the drop of a dime. Just look at THIS knockout from last week.

Belcher, who is known for his punching power, came back in Round 3 to clobber Adams with a massive right hand. It knocked spit and a mouthpiece from Adams’ mouth and forced the referee to quickly wave the fight off. The victory extends Belcher’s unbeaten BKFC streak to four.

Jake Paul and Tommy Fury nearly came to blows during official weigh ins leading up to tomorrow’s (Sun., Feb. 26, 2023) epic clash inside of the boxing ring live on ESPN+ and FITE+ pay-per-view (PPV) from Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. Luckily, security and team members were in attendance to keep both fighters at bay.

The matchup between Paul and Fury has been two years in the making so when both fighters came face-to-face for one final staredown early Saturday emotions started to take over. After a successful weigh in (results HERE), Paul and Fury started to jaw at each other as they got closer. Profanity was exchanged and both fighters looked ready to throwdown on the stage, but it was Fury who cracked first and violently shoved Paul.

Check it out in the above video player courtesy of ESPN.

Now that the pre-fight press conference and official weigh ins are in the book all fight fans have to do is wait for Sunday afternoon. Paul and Fury are expected to turn in one of the biggest fights in boxing this year and finally settle their beef in Saudi Arabia. Paul is the betting favorite to extend his undefeated boxing record to 7-0, but Fury is clearly gassed up for this fight and more than capable of playing spoiler.
