Set for May 14 in Brazil, the event is rumored to be the host-site for UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum vs. Stipe Miocic. Vitor Belfort vs. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza has already been announced, as that would fill the co-main event role.

Nogueira (21-7) is coming off a pair of losses to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Anthony Johnson since his 2013 decision vs. former champion Rashad Evans. The Brazilian, who will turn 40 years old in June, is 4-4 over his last eight fights.

Other previously announced fights include Demian Maia-Matt Brown, Leonardo Santos-Evan Dunham and Nate Marquardt-Thiago Santos.

Just a day after fearing he would be removed from Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 83 card, Cody Garbrandt has a new opponent.

Officials announced on Tuesday that the unbeaten bantamweight will take on Augusto Mendes from Pittsburgh and the Consol Energy Center. The main card, which Garbrandt-Mendes will be part of, airs live on FOX Sports 1.

Originally, Garbrandt (7-0) was set to meet John Lineker in a key 135-pound contest. However, Lineker was forced out after coming down with an illness.

“New opponent, same outcome!” Garbrandt posted on Twitter after news of the fight announcement. “This one is for my fans!!”

Now, he will take on Mendes (5-0), who will be making his official UFC debut after scoring five finishes on the regional tour.

UFC Fight Night 83 features a main event between Donald Cerrone and Alex Oliveira, along with Derek Brunson vs. Roan Carneiro.

Former Ultimate Fighter: Latin America winner Yair Rodriguez will take on Andre Fili this April at UFC 197, officials announced recently.

Set for April 23 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the event features a double-championship night. First, Demetrious Johnson defends his flyweight title against Henry Cejudo, while in the main event, Jon Jones attempts to win back the light heavyweight title against Daniel Cormier.

Rodriguez (6-1) is on a four-fight win streak, including three straight within the Octagon. The 23-year-old won TUF when he picked up a decision over Leonardo Morales back in 2014, adding decisions vs. Charles Rosa and Dan Hooker to his resume last year.

Fili (15-3), a member of Team Alpha Male, started his career 13-1 but has gone just 2-2 since. In November, though, he delivered a picture-perfect head-kick knockout of Gabriel Benitez.

The rest of the UFC 197 card includes Robert Whittaker-Rafael Natal, Marcos Rogerio de Lima-Clint Hester and Jessica Aguilar-Juliana Lima.

Tyron Woodley believes he is the rightful No. 1 contender to UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler.

Recently, Stephen Thompson declared himself for that role, citing his believe that he is a “more exciting” fighter than Woodley.

The former NCAA wrestling standout took exception, offering up what he described as “Reminder Monday” on Twitter recently:

Woodley (15-3) has won two in a row and four of his last five, losing only to former title contender Rory MacDonald since 2013. He picked up a split decision over Kelvin Gastelum last year, losing his shot at Johny Hendricks – who Thompson finished in the first round – when the former UFC champion suffered issues cutting weight.
