Ronda Rousey made quick work of Miesha Tate, forcing her to submit in the very first round and adding to the mystique of her legendary armbar.

Rousey has moved to 5-0 and all five victories have come via armbar. She’s established herself as an armbar master and proved her worth against a talented and confident Tate.

It’s obvious that Rousey has an extensive martial arts background. She’s competed in the Olympics and has an extensive Judo background that makes her lethal to any opponent.

According to Bleacher Report’s official MMA Twitter page, Rousey defeated Tate 4:27 into the first round.

All of Rousey’s opponents have left themselves vulnerable and she has capitalized on her opponents’ mistakes. She’s one of the most dangerous women to have ever entered the Octagon and even though her opponents know it’s coming, her lethal armbar is impossible to avoid.

At some point it seems she’ll have to switch up her game and defeat her opponent with some other method or with her standup game. Even so, nobody has been able to find a way to avoid her uncannily effective armbar thus far, and it’s proving impossible to avoid.

A fighter as talented as Tate falling victim to a submission she knew was coming is very telling of how much potential Rousey has going forward. Claiming the bantamweight championship is a great step, and it’s clear that her belt isn’t going anywhere.

The legend of the Rousey armbar not only lives on, it’s got every opponent Rousey has and ever will encounter terrified.

The UFC needs Brock Lesnar to return to being the “baddest man on the planet,” and the only way for him to do so is to knock out Alistair Overeem in UFC 141.

Overeem is on the verge of breaking into stardom. While he could still grab hold of the heavyweight division, the UFC needs Lesnar to be successful far more than it needs Overeem to be.

There is a certain mystique about Lesnar that Overeem simply doesn’t have. Whether it’s the giant sword on his chest, his showmanship or his pro wrestling background, Overeem simply doesn’t pack the same draw that Lesnar does.

We all saw the frenzy Kimbo Slice created by joining the UFC, and he didn’t have nearly the talent that Lesnar had inside the Octagon.

Lesnar has the perfect combination of being a household name and lethal talent. As long as his health issues don’t bar him from fighting, he’s got the power to dominate the heavyweight division and be the star UFC needs atop the heavyweight division.

Overeem is arguably the better fighter in this matchup, but UFC needs Lesnar to knock him out in resounding fashion.

Lesnar may be 34, but his intimidating presence and appeal amongst the masses is required for UFC to be at its best. He’s good for exposure, he performs in the ring and this fight gives him the perfect opportunity to reestablish himself as one of the most feared humans on the face of the earth.

UFC star Brock Lesnar finds himself in hot water after pleading guilty to a hunting infraction in southern Alberta.

According to TheGlobeandMail.com, “A lawyer for the mixed martial arts star appeared in a Medicine Hat court and pleaded guilty on his client’s behalf to improper tagging of an animal during a hunting trip last year.”

He was fined $1,725 and a six-month suspension was levied upon him.

Lesnar has his fight against Alistair Overeem in UFC 141 right around the corner. With the medical ailments he’s had to battle through and such a high-profile fight coming up, Lesnar can ill afford to have his mind elsewhere.

That being said, hunting infractions have to be taken seriously. Such a well-known fighter not following proper protocol reflects negatively upon everyone.

A guide was charged as well and two other charges against Lesnar were said to have been dropped.

This is a slap on the wrist and from what it sounds like, there certainly wasn’t any ill intent from the hunter.

That being said, nobody is above the regulations in place and this sends the message that careful attention to the rules must be exercised by anyone who chooses to take park in hunting.

With this behind him and his lesson learned, Lesnar now has to refocus himself as Overeem looks to inflict justice of a different kind.

UFC 137: Why Mitrione vs. Kongo Will Be Fight of the Night

The fight of the night is going to come at the hands of a slug fest in the heavyweight bout between Matt Mitrione vs. Cheick Kongo.

Unbeaten Mitrione is going to have his hands full when he steps into the ring with Kongo. Kongo knows how to hold off the early onslaught, as he did against Pat Barry. Mitrione is devastating in the octagon, but Kongo has the wherewithal to survive the initial exchange.

This fight has all the making of one that goes the distance and both fighters have crazy knockout power. After the imminent brutal exchange between the two fighters, this fight is sure to end in spectacular knockout fashion.

Best of all, there really is no telling who is going to walk away with the victory. With a couple of surprisingly athletic fighters and obviously heavy-handed fighters involved, this fight could go either way.

The uncertainty, brilliant trading of punches and epic finish will make this fight the UFC 137 Fight of the Night. Recent heavyweight battles have lacked the pizazz this one is going to bring.

There is nothing quite like a great heavyweight showing and the UFC has been sorely lacking the sort of heavyweight matchup that provides the show that this one puts on.

Just because this isn’t the fight drawing the most attention doesn’t mean that it’s not going to be the one that leaves the crowd on their feet. If you can only watch one fight tonight, you don’t want to miss Mitrione vs. Kongo.
