Last night’s UFC on FX main event featured two of the best lightweight fighters in the UFC looking to get back on track after suffering losses in their previous fights.

Jim Miller (21-3-0) and Melvin Guillard (29-10-2) faced off in the shortest fight of the night.

Three of the four fights on the main card ended in the first round. The main event made it just 2:04 before Miller submitted Guillard via submission.

Guillard had the upper hand in all but 15 seconds of the fight. He came out swinging and connected with a couple shots early that rattled Miller.

It didn’t stop Miller from pressing forward.

Guillard attempted a flying knee that Miller was able to counter into a takedown.

When Guillard tried to get back to his feet, Miller capitalized by jumping on his back. After locking in a figure-four leg lock, Guillard fell back to the ground.

Miller quickly established a rear-naked choke and Guillard tapped.

Of Miller’s 21 career wins, 12 have now come by way of submission. He truly has a talent for capitalizing on his opponent’s minor mistakes to come away with wins.

The win puts Miller right back in the hunt for the Lightweight Championship.

His recent loss to Ben Henderson, who will be the next fighter to challenge for the belt, lost Miller some of his recent recognition.

This fight puts him right back in the talks. He may be just one win away from getting that shot at the title.

Clay Guida is the name being thrown around at the moment as a possible upcoming fight for Miller.

Whoever it is, you can bet Miller will be on the top of his game.

Dana White, president of the UFC, takes us through the week building up to the events that will unfold tonight on UFC on FX.

The look behind the scenes gives insight on the work put into managing these events and making sure everything comes together.

It is, however, unlike most organizations. It’s safe to say that White isn’t the most professional of guys. He is very casual and, at times, vulgar with his comments.

But isn’t that what makes the president of a fighting organization appealing?

The look behind the scenes shows multiple issues the organization was confronted with heading up to the event. It also shows a behind the scenes look on the set of The Ultimate Fighter.

During the video, White also has a short interview with fighter and upcoming coach on The Ultimate Fighter, Urijah Faber. Faber makes predictions for the fights tonight that may surprise you.

The video closes with sights and sounds from on stage for the weigh-ins.

The video blogs are something new to the UFC. White says at the start of the video that it’s not something he typically does. It’s something he should continue doing in the future as it gives good insight for fans on what really happens behind the scenes.

With the recent domination by Jon Jones in the light heavyweight division, there are many who have begun to question whether or not there is a worthy competitor for the championship.

During last night’s UFC 141 event, we may have seen a fighter who could get a shot some time in the near future.

Alexander Gustafsson recorded a first round TKO over Vladimir Matyushenko improving his all-time record to 13-1.

The 24-year-old out of Sweden has gained much recognition over the year. Many have even compared him to champion Jon Jones.

Like Jones, Gustafsson posses similar length, power and speed.

Many have attributed Jones’ success to his physical superiority over his opponents. He is able to keep them at a distance with his long reach and punish them when they try to close the distance.

Gustafsson uses similar tactics to capitalize on his opponents.

The young fighter isn’t ready to take on Jones yet, but he could surely give him a run when he is.

ESPN currently ranks Gustafsson as the No. 8 light heavyweight in the world.

If he can win two or three more fights against opponents ranked above him, that may be all he needs to get a title shot.

It may be in his interest to wait longer and develop further as a fighter, but there is no way that anybody can blame him if he takes the shot.

The matchup would be something new to Jones, but at the same time it would be different for Gustafsson as well.

Neither would be able to rely on their physical stature as an advantage.

If things continue the way they have gone, this could be one of the bigger fights that the UFC has to give in 2012.

UFC 140: Jon Jones Will Crush Lyoto Machida to Defend Light Heavyweight Title

Tonight’s showdown in the main event of UFC 140 will feature one of the youngest and most talented stars in mixed martial arts today.

Jon Jones (14-1) will take on Lyoto Machida (17-2) in a five-round fight for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. The fight should be one of the most exciting that we have seen in the octagon in recent months.

Jones has crushed every opponent that he has ever stepped into the ring with. His only loss came by disqualification against Matt Hamill when he landed multiple illegal downward elbows.

It was a clear mistake by Jones, who was new to the UFC at the time. The disqualification came in the first round. Had he not been disqualified, the fight likely would have ended early in the second round in favor of Jones.

Machida, on the other hand, has really fallen off the map in recent years. He has taken part in just three fights since the start of 2010.

Machida lost back-to-back against Shogun Rua and Rampage Jackson before rebounding with a win over Randy Couture in April.

The win over Couture really doesn’t say much, as the aging veteran was on his way out of mixed martial arts.

Jones is just on another level. His first two fights in the UFC went to him in unanimous decision. Other than that, no fight has ever gone the distance.

That will be the case again tonight. Jones will win this fight before the final bell sounds.

ESPN has Jones ranked as the fourth-best pound-for-pound fighter in mixed martial arts. The only remaining light heavyweight standing in his way is Rashad Evans. It appears that will be the next fight we see, assuming Jones takes care of Machida.

If Jones wins at UFC 140 in similar fashion to his previous fights, we can start talking about a move in weight classes. It would be the most electrifying match in UFC history if Jones stepped into the octagon with Anderson Silva.

Could that be in the future? We can only hope.

UFC 139 Predictions: Dan Henderson Will Get Crushed in UFC Return

Tonight’s main event on the UFC 139 fight card will feature the return of Dan Henderson (28-8) in a light heavyweight fight against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (20-5).

The last time Henderson was in a UFC fight, he beat Michael Bisping by a knockout. The knockout, which you can see here, was named Knockout of the Year in 2009.

After a brief stink in Strikeforce, Henderson returns tonight.

Rua made his UFC debut in September 2007. Since then, he has recorded only seven fights in the UFC.

He boasts a record of just 4-3, but all seven fights have come against top talent in the UFC.

Rua has taken on Forrest Griffin, Mark Coleman, Chuck Liddell, Lyoto Machida and Jon Jones.

He took the UFC light heavyweight title from Machida, but lost it in his following fight against current champion Jones.

Rua may not have fought often in the last few years, but when he has it’s been against the premier talent in the organization.

Never in his career has Henderson faced anybody at this level and won.

He was dominated by Quentin “Rampage” Jackson and Anderson Silva during his previous time in UFC.

Rua fought Jackson once early in his career. He ended the fight in the first round by knockout.

Tonight, Rua will simply be the more talented fighter in the ring. Since this fight is only scheduled for three rounds, it could go the distance.

No matter how it ends, it should be a clear victory for Rua.
