You may remember, former UFC Ring Girl Natasha Wicks suffered some brutal injuries to the beautiful lower parts of her body while skateboarding back in February. What does this mean? Well, for one it sounds like holding up a sign and walking around the Octagon in a bikini and tennis shoes is a pretty safe activity. Secondly it means, we should all start an open plea to Dana White to bring back Brittney and Natasha! Let’s do it, folks! Let’s write letters and tweet and start a petition, if only for the very safety of these two lovely ladies who when they worked in the UFC, never met with any harm. We need to protect our favorite ring girls. Let’s take a stand.

Um… Can a Contact High Get You a Positive Result on a Drug Test?

Dave Herman tested positive for marijuana in his system which led to his fight being yanked off the UFC 136 card, but Herman told MMAFighting‘s Ben Fowlkes that he doesn’t actually smoke weed. Herman said:.

“I do not smoke marijuana. I can’t say I’m not around it. I live in California. Pretty much everyone out here smokes weed. Maybe I need to pick my friends a little better. I don’t know.”

This lead me to wonder if maybe Herman who has probably been cutting weight recently, may have gotten a late night sweet tooth which lead him into a buddy’s kitchen where a delicious plate of brownies on a counter got the better of him. Or maybe… he was in a car with a bunch of potheads. I did some intense research which consisted of me googling the question i actually titled this post with: “can a contact high get you a positive result on a drug test?” and I found this answer from what I will put my reputation on the line for and say is a reliable resource called Drugs.Blurtit.com and it says:

Generally, no you cannot test positive for marijuana if you didn’t smoke it. Second-hand smoke is not concentrated enough to show up in your system; however if you are in an air-tight environment such as a car or even a closet where companions are smoking and you inhaled deeply, then yes you can test positive.

So there you have it. Poor Dave Herman got smoked out in a car. Life is unfair.

Should Frank Mir be the Betting Favorite Over Big Nog?

Early betting lines are out for UFC 140‘s Frank Mir vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira II and Mir is the odds on favorite at a whopping (-255), while “Big Nog” is set at (+205). That’s a good value to lay cash down on Nog in these early betting stages, but should he be the underdog?

Nog has just enjoyed the biggest coup of his career by knocking out the much younger much more odds on favorite, Brendan Schaub in the first round of his hometown UFC Rio co-main event. Yes, Nog did lose to Mir in their first match up at UFC 92 in December of 08, but Nog had suffered a staph infection days before which hospitalized him for 5 days and he incurred a knee injury during that very training camp, which required surgery a few months later.

Frank Mir delivered a second round knock out to Big Nog in that UFC 92 fight, which was the first ever KO loss of Nog’s career, but since then Mir has been plagued with a mix of losses and *”lackluster” (*Dana White‘s word) wins.

Both fighters deserve a tremendous amount of respect for where their careers stand at their mature ages in the fight game so perhaps, the betting field should be a little more even going into this one. Regardless, those who feel there is a definite resurgence in Nog’s game and it wasn’t just a hometown-inspired-fluke-victory over Schaub, should take advantage of the big underdog value in Big Nog now.
