Alexandre FerreiraAn injury to light-heavyweight Jason Brilz has forced him to withdraw from the upcoming UFC 122 event in Germany. Replacing him will be Brazilian Chute Boxe Fighter Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira (18-6) who will make his UFC debut against Vladimir Matyushenko (24-5).

The replacement was confirmed by several news sources on Wednesday.

“Cacareco” Ferreira has been attempting to get into one of the big promotions for awhile. In August he issued an open challenge to all of the world’s light-heavyweights. At one point in 2008 Ferreira had accepted a fight with Lyoto Machida but “The Dragon” declined the bout.

Ferreira is currently on a seven fight win streak, winning every fight in the first round by submission. The matches took place in various promotions mostly based in Brazil. His last loss was by unanimous decision back in 2007.

Matyushenko is coming off a recent loss to Jon Jones at the UFC Live: Jones vs. Matyushenko on August 1st of this year. “The Janitor” was stopped in the first round by Jones in that bout which ended a three fight win streak. Wins included victories over Eliot Marshall, Igor Pokrajac, and Jason Lambert.

Their bout is expected to take place on the preliminary card.

UFC 122: Marquardt vs. Okami will take place at the König Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany and will be broadcast via tape delay in North America on Spike TV.
