Stephan Bonnar and Anderson Silva are set to do battle and it should be a good one. Both men are exciting fighters that should give the fans something special to watch.
As for the fight itself and how it will go down, here is the final preview and prediction.
This fight is interesting because it is technically a superfight, but it is between the top middleweight fighter and a top-25 light heavyweight. Silva is the pound-for-pound king, while Bonnar is a scrapper that worries more about fan enjoyment than rankings.
When these two step into the Octagon, we should have ourselves a fun fight.
I expect both men to strike for a while. Bonnar has a good chin and underrated striking that should be good enough to withstand Silva’s superior striking for a while.
However, Bonnar will have a game plan and natural size that should give him some advantage in this fight. That is why I expect him to look for takedowns and clinches.
To clinch with Silva is not smart, as the possibility for Silva putting Bonnar in the Thai clinch is high. We all know Silva is deadly once he grabs a hold of the Thai clinch and can end fights with his knees.
If Bonnar doesn’t get Silva down at least once, I will be surprised. This is a big fight for him with serious complications, so I think he will implement a mixed game plan.
In the end though, Silva will be too much. He will win striking exchanges. He will avoid most of Bonnar‘s takedowns, assuming Bonnar goes for them.
I don’t think Bonnar will be finished. Expect a Silva unanimous decision and a drop back to middleweight.
