Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira meets Stefan Struve at UFC 190

A heavyweight clash between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Stefan Struve was added to UFC 190.

“Minotauro”, who replaced Anderson Silva as one of the coaches for The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 4, announced on Revista Combate that he will meet Struve at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Aug. 1.

Nogueira (34-9-1, 1 no-contest) dropped his last two bouts via stoppage, tapping to an armbar against interim champion Fabricio Werdum and losing via knockout to Roy Nelson almost a year ago. The former UFC and PRIDE champion hasn’t won a fight since 2012, when he submitted Dave Herman.

Struve (25-7), who was sidelined for months due to a heart condition, returned to the Octagon in December, but ended up finished in the first round by Alistair Overeem. In his previous bout, the Dutch heavyweight had his jaw broken at the hands of Mark Hunt. The pair of losses snapped a four-fight win streak with finishes over Stipe Miocic, Lavar Johnson, Dave Herman and Pat Barry.

Headlined by Ronda Rousey vs. Bethe Correia, UFC 190 also features “Minotauro’s” twin brother Antonio Rogerio Nogueira against former light heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua.
