Rousimar_PalharesUltimate Fighting Champion Rousimar “Toquinho” Palhares (11-3) recently signed a new four fight contract with the promotion and is looking for a rematch with Nate Marquardt.

Palhares would like to avenge a loss in September to Marquardt in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares. In the fight, “Toquinho” tried to secure a leg lock which Marquardt pulled out of, leaving Palhares looking to the referee with a complaint about “greasing.” With no response from the referee Marquardt would unleash a ground-and-pound attack that earning him the first round stoppage.

Officials would immediately look into the matter and conclude that Marquardt had indeed not greased. The fighter would go on to note that it was sweat as he warmed up intensely in the locker room.

Palhares would later apologized for his actions and is now looking for that rematch according to one of his coaches Murilo Bustamante of the Brazilian Top Team gym.

“We’ve signed a new contract for Toquinho today, he’ll fight four more times, it’s renewed and we are on the expectations to know about his next fight. He’s very motivated, he know that he let the victory escape, he made a mistake, but these things happen in life, but he’s crazy to fight Nate again. He wants this fight pretty bad and he’s training for it.”

Palhares is 4-2 with the UFC and had a three fight win streak stopped by Marquardt in September. His last victory was over Tomasz Drwal at UFC 111 where Palhares received a 90 day suspension for failing to release a submission.
