Bellator 33 featured the debut of USA Olympic Judo team member Rich Hawn against MMA veteran Levon Maynard. Hawn displays his judo craft with a tremendous throw that leads a vicious TKO assault.

Bellator 33 featured the Welterweight Championship between Lyman Good vs. Ben Askren. From the opening bell Askren dictate the fight and imposed his wrestling will on Good. One swift upkick and the tied turned, as Good clamp on a tight submission attempt that Askren would eventually survive.
