The UFC’s seasonal press conference set for Friday, April 12. However, it will be without Ben Askren if “Funky’s” tweet is to be believed.

Askren claims that his upcoming opponent for July 6’s UFC 239, Jorge Masvidal, has declined to appear. He’s therefore been ‘uninvited’ from the event as a result.

If Askren will not be present this Friday evening for the presser, then the entire event has lost a lot of appeal to the average fan.

Askren has taken the UFC by storm since getting ‘traded’ from ONE Championship for former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson last year. He’s called nearly every top welterweight – and many fighters in other divisions – in the time since. ‘Funky’ debuted with a controversial win over Robbie Lawler at UFC 235. He targeted the winner of UFC London’s Jorge Masvidal vs. Darren Till.

When ‘Gamebred’ scored a jaw-dropping knockout, Askren got that fight for UFC 239.

The press conference will take place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia at 12 p.m. ET. The UFC 236 ceremonial weigh-ins will follow. UFC President Dana White will host the event, which will be open and free to the public.
