DREAM’s reigning bantamweight champion, for what that title is worth with the Japanese company apparently closing shop, Bibiano Fernandes (11-3) has signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship and will debut in Calgary next month versus Canadian fighter Roland Delorme (8-1) at UFC 149.

The promotion made the announcement earlier today at UFC.com.

In more UFC 149 news, highly-touted Bibiano Fernandes is joining the growing line for a crack at the UFC bantamweight title, and his first test inside the Octagon will be against Canadian prospect Roland Delorme.

UFC 149: Aldo vs. Koch is expected to take place on July 21, 2012 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The bout between Fernandes and Delorme will certainly take place on the preliminary card, likely the televised portion of the event.

Fernandes will enter the FUC on a three fight win streak, having won two of those bouts on New Years Eve last December, winning DREAM’s bantamweight World GP Final to earn his second DREAM title. Fernandes stopped Antonio Banuelos by first round TKO at the Japanese event. Fernandes had captured the featherweight title in DREAM back in 2009 but lost it to Hiroyuki Takaya at a NYE event in December 2010.

Delorme has won two straight since debuting in the Octagon at the TUF 14 Finale. The former Team Miller fighter earned his second submission victory this past May at the UFC on FOX 3 event by stopping fellow countrymen Nick Denis. Delorme’s first win under the UFC banner was against Josh Ferguson at the TUF 14 Finale, a third round rear-naked choke sub.
