Conor McGregor is about to add another name to his list of potential fights.
McGregor, who is currently “retired” from UFC, made headlines yet again last week when he challenged Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg to a fight inside of the cage. “Notorious” was chiming in on the recent fight rumors involving Justin Bieber and Tom Cruise and decided to take another shot at “Marky Mark.”

“I challenge Mark Walhberg on the very same card,” wrote McGregor via Twitter. “Back when mark wahlberg was marky mark, I’d’ve still slapped the ears off him and took my ufc shares back.”
Now, after his most recent shot at Wahlberg, McGregor is catching some heat from one of boxing’s most promising champions.
Regis Prograis, who holds the WBA light welterweight title and a professional record of 24-0 (20 KO), happens to be co-managed by Wahlberg and took offense to McGregor’s call out of the actor. The 30-year-old undefeated boxer recently took to Instagram to challenge McGregor to a fight inside of the ring, and surprisingly, a grudge match inside of the Octagon.
“@thenotoriousmma don’t call out an actor if you’re a real fighter,” wrote Prograis. “Matter of fact, don’t call out my manager. I’m probably the only world boxing champ who would fight in the ring and in octagon.”
While Prograis is a superb boxer with great potential in his own sport, he wouldn’t offer much for “Notorious” inside of the Octagon. The boxing-to-MMA crossover is often talked about but rarely played out, and that’s for good reason. McGregor would simply smoke Prograis if the two squared off in MMA.
Of course, that is according to who you ask. When it comes to famed boxing personality Lou DiBella, who currently promotes Prograis, the welterweight boxer could end up beating McGregor at his own game as well.
“I give Regis a much greater chance of beating McGregor in MMA than I do of McGregor beating Regis in a boxing match,” DiBella told Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole. “If he got into a ring with Regis, he wouldn’t get out of the sixth round.”
Despite the social media challenge, Prograis is unlikely to get much of a reaction out of McGregor. The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion is too busy plotting his revenge on undefeated Russian sensation Khabib Nurmagomedov to worry about a call out from yet another boxer.
