Canadian UFC welterweight Rory ‘The Waterboy’ MacDonald (14-1) will have to sit on the sidelines for a bit longer before he’s ready to return to the cage.

On Wednesday, MacDonald revealed that he had reinjured his neck during a workout on Tuesday leaving his return to the Octagon up in the air.

Speaking to Sportsnet.ca MacDonald about reinjuring his neck while training at the Tristar gym in Montreal earlier this week.

ā€œ(Rehab) was going good, but then yesterday I kind of hurt it again, so after today Iā€™m going to get someone to check it out. I was trying to get back slowly into training and I was just doing technique and I just tweaked it.ā€

MacDonald had been scheduled to compete this weekend in the co-main event of UFC 158 versus Carlos Condit in a rematch but withdrew last month after injuring his neck initially.

The British Columbia native is currently on a four fight win streak having bounced back from the only loss of his career back in June 2010. That defeat was at the hands of Condit which ended in the third round by TKO for ‘The Natural Born Killer.’ MacDonald’s last fight in the Octagon went down this past December at FUC on FOX 5, seeing the Canadian earn a unanimous decision over former champ BJ Penn.
