Fans scooped up 42,000 tickets today for the upcoming UFC 129 event at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, as pre-sale tickets became available to UFC Fight Club members.

This broke the promotions previous attendance record of 23,152 who watched Georges St-Pierre defend his title against Josh Koscheck at UFC 124 just last December in Montreal.

UFC director of Canadian operations Tom Wright noted that “In less than an hour we were pretty well down to some singles (tickets).” Prompting the organization to release several thousand more tickets that will become available to the general public on Saturday.

I know from personal experience that at 1020AM EST this morning the only seating available (well in my price range) for purchase were the $50 seats.

Time will tell if this may be something the UFC repeats in the future whether fans walk away happy with their UFC experience, or a poor letdown never to be repeated such as letting the fans choose the “Fight of the Night” winner from UFC 124.
