Lightweight prospect Charles Oliveira will compete for an unprecedented fifth time in one year as he looks to do battle against Donald Cerrone at UFC on Versus 5 this weekend.

The fact that the Brazilian is fighting for the fifth time within a year is unheard of, but he said he is not feeling any affects or injuries. Oliveira said he is happy to fight on a consistent basis in order to keep evolving as a fighter.

“I’m loving the fact I’ve been fighting a lot, I like fighting a lot so I can keep my rhythm,” Oliveira told TATAME.com.

“This sequence is a good thing for me and I want to evolve more and more.”

The Brazilian prospect’s last bout was declared a no contest after his opponent, Nik Lentz, landed an illegal knee. However, more than two months removed, Oliveira looks to return and put on a competitive fight against “The Cowboy.”

“He’s coming from a win, and I’m coming from a No Contest and that Octagon will be heated up, you can bet I’ll make it the [Fight of the Night], and if it’s not, it’ll be the best KO or submission of the night,” he said.

Oliveira’s bout against Cerrone has the potential to be a candidate, and while the Brazilian is confident heading into this weekend, he understands what Cerrone is capable of, and hopes that a win can earn him an opportunity to earn a title shot in the future.

“I know Cerrone is an experienced guy, tough, one of the tops of the division, so if I can get a win it’ll be great,” he said.

“I’ve been working on it for a while now, I got some good wins in [the UFC] and I’m sure that if I defeat Cerrone I can join those top guys and, maybe, have a chance at the belt.”
