As we previously reported, Russian heavyweight mixed martial arts (MMA) legend Fedor Emelianenko’s daughter was attacked earlier this week on her way home from school by a number of unknown assailants.

The attack occurred just after Fedor’s comments scolding the child MMA fights that were hosted by Head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, during a World Fighting Championships of Akhmat (WFCA) event.

In a recent press release on the Chechen government website, Kadyrov called for the perpetrators to be punished ‘to the fullest extent of the law’:

“This is an outrageous incident that needs to be investigated thoroughly and those responsible be punished to the fullest extent of the law. And the judge should not only consider the beating, but also the provocative actions clearly aimed to incite ethnic hatred.

“Hard to believe that the aim was only to put a beating, causing physical pain before robbery. With high probability we can say that the task was to cause a public outcry.”

Shortly after Fedor’s comments condemning the child MMA fights, multiple members of the Akhmat Fight Club (owned by Kadyrov), including well known fighters such as WSOF flyweight champion Magomed Bibulatov and UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov, showed their support for the child MMA bouts. Interestingly enough, State Duma member Adam Delimkhanov stated in a threatening manner that Fedor would be “held responsible for his words against Kadyrov’s children.”

The comments of these men, however, were shortly removed from social media at the request of Kadyrov, who stated that Fedor had ‘realized his mistake’. It should be noted Fedor’s comments have since been removed from his social media account as well.

“The perpetrator must be found at any cost,” Kadyrov continued in his statement. “In Moscow, surveillance cameras scan every square meter. [Attacker] can and should be sought out. We are also working towards this and are ready to provide maximum assistance.

“People who pose a threat to children must be isolated and not roam the streets leading to schools.”

We’ll keep you updated on the situation as we learn more.
