Claudia Gadelha fires back at Aisling Daly’s steroid allegations

Claudia Gadelha and Aisling Daly won’t fight anymore at UFC Fight Night 64, but that doesn’t mean the fire between them is gone.

Daly, who now faces Randa Markos at UFC 186, was asked about a “beef” between her and Gadelha during a Q&A with the fans Tuesday in Dublin, and had this to say about the Brazilian strawweight.

“There isn’t any beef, or there wasn’t,” Daly said. “She put a statement after she pulled out of the fight saying that I’ve been talking shit. I actually think he was just confusing me with Conor (McGregor). I’m sure Jose (Aldo) is sitting on the mat giving notes about the Conor tour and she got a bit confused and thought that was me. I honestly didn’t say anything.”

Gadelha and Daly never tested positive for banned substances, but McGregor’s teammate wonders if illegal substances had anything to do with Gadelha pulling out of the event citing a back injury.

“We were both due to be tested and she was gone,” Daly said. “Think from that what you will.”

Gadelha, who was hoping to get back on track following a close split decision loss to Joanna Jędrzejczyk in December, fired back.

“I was tested in every Invicta FC fight. I was tested in every UFC fight and I don’t have any problem with that,” Gadelha told MMAFighting.com. “Aisling said that because she’s not an athlete. I’m a better athlete, more disciplined. I train every day, several times a day, and I take care of my body. I believe she said that because I’m fit and she’s fat, she has that big belly. She doesn’t make weight, she’s not an athlete, and is talking s—.”

With Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor slated to meet at UFC 189 on July 11, Gadelha hopes Daly gets past Markos and the promotion rebooks that fight for the same card.

“I will fight her anytime, at any event she wants,” Gadelha said. “I want to fight and shut her up more than ever now.”
