CM Punk has confirmed that he is “working on” finding an opponent for what would be his second bout in the UFC.
The former WWE star was asked about his plans for the future on social media:
Punk lost his debut UFC fight in September last year, as he was submitted in the first round by Mickey Gall at UFC 203.
The 38-year-old’s debut in the brand was much anticipated, as a string of injury woes delayed his first appearance after signing with UFC in December 2014.
However, the former professional wrestler was outclassed by the younger man, as he was brought down to the mat and placed in a rear-naked choke submission.
Punk’s maiden appearance was over after just two minutes and 13 seconds; per ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, it wasn’t pretty:
It was clear after the fight that Punk felt as though he’d made the right decision by venturing into professional MMA, though.
“I just like to take challenges,” he said in the Octagon after his defeat, per Arash Markazi of ESPN. “It was a hell of a mountain to try to climb, and I didn’t get to the summit today, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to give up. It doesn’t mean I’m going to stop. I will be back, believe it or not.”
And based on his recent post on social media, Punk is keen to get back into action again soon, although the identity of his next opponent remains unknown.
In January, he told Fox Sports‘ Carrlyn Bathe that he was “feverishly” working on another fight and was “throwing names” at UFC President Dana White.
