Former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington just trashed Tyron Woodley for his ’embarrassing’ callout of Conor McGregor.

Covington is referring to the former champion’s comments to MMA Junkie last week where Woodley said that a match-up with the Irishman would be “dope”.

As a result of his callout, Woodley suffered some backlash. Covington trashed Woodley for calling out a 155-pound fighter.

“It’s embarrassing, man,” Covington on Monday told MMA Junkie. “Tyrone doing what he does best – embarrassing himself. He’s calling out a (155) pounder, a guy that’s below him that has no aspirations to fight him. The thing about Tyron, he’s not a draw. No one cares about him. The fans don’t want to see him fight. He’s boring inside the cage and outside the cage.”

You can’t fault Woodley for taking his shot at the biggest money fight of them all. However, it is rather unlikely the UFC would book that fight at this point in their careers. Covington agrees, and he can’t imagine any scenario in which the UFC would book Woodley and McGregor.

“He’s not going to get a big money fight with Conor,” Covington said. “He’s not a draw. He couldn’t even sell 100,000 pay-per-views by himself. Why’s Conor going to give him the spotlight to fame and money?”
