UFC star Conor McGregor doesn’t want to head into the state of Nevada anytime soon after being fined for an incident during a news conference leading up to his UFC 202 bout against Nate Diaz.
On Wednesday, McGregor told UFC President Dana White “he never wants to fight in Nevada again,” after being fined $150,000, per Damon Martin of Fox Sports.
The fine stemmed from a pre-fight press conference in which Diaz stormed off early. Words were exchanged between the two parties before bottles began flying (warning: NSFW language):
McGregor went on to win the rematch against Diaz to reclaim the featherweight title, but he received a blow from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) on Monday when he was fined 5 percent of the $3 million UFC 202 purse and was ordered to participate in 50 hours of community service, per ESPN.com’s Brett Okamoto.
There has been no word of Diaz’s punishment as of yet, but the NSAC’s ruling hasn’t sat well with McGregor:
While he doesn’t want to fight in the state, McGregor has performed well in Nevada, recording wins at UFC 178 and UFC 194 before August’s triumph over Diaz.
Luckily for him, his next bout will come against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 on Nov. 12 from New York City.
