Conor McGregor scored a big win this week, but not in the UFC’s Octagon. The UFC featherweight champion (and lightweight top contender) will not be facing any gun charges stemming from a controversial Instagram post he made on January 7.

According to a report from TMZ.com, McGregor is free and clear. “No offense was committed,” said an Irish Police Force rep on the investigation into the photo.

For those who missed it, Mystic Mac posted a shot of a man, most likely himself, wearing a mask and brandishing what appears to be an automatic gun out the window of a BMW i8 with the text “put the fight game in the bag and step away from the vehicle.” While the post itself was likely just a reference to his negotiations with the UFC over his next fight, it also raised the eyebrow of Dublin police.

Ireland has strict gun laws, and owning a firearm like that, never even mind brandishing it in public, could carry stiff penalties. According to TMZ, though, “McGregor later fessed up to brandishing the weapon…but claimed the firearm was nothing more than an Airsoft gun he was using to practice for a possible movie role.”

Putting that behind him is undoubtedly a big relief for the ever-busy McGregor. As reported by Bleacher Report’s Jeremy Botter, the Irish striker is currently slated for a blockbuster bout with lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 197. Should McGregor win, he will become the first man in history to hold two UFC titles.

In the meantime, however, fans can still look count on him to show off his in-cage skills and ridiculously expensive cars on social media.
