Brock Lesnar and Fedor Emelianenko will both remain retired, according to UFC president Dana White.

Fans have been clamoring over a potential superfight pitting the former champions against one another.

During an appearance on the “Dave and Mahoney Show,” White finally turned the page on one of the most talked about heavyweight dream matchups in MMA history.

“[Brock Lesnar] is done. He’s done,” said White.

“He called me a couple of days ago. He’s never coming back. He just said his body is you know, he can wrestle, but he can’t fight. He was contemplating coming back. [Fedor isn’t coming back either]. They’re both retired.”

During his stint in the UFC, Lesnar‘s health became a serious concern. He was forced to undergo multiple surgeries after being diagnosed with diverticulitis, an intestinal disorder. Emelianenko, on the other hand, just felt it was the right time to hang up the gloves.

There really isn’t anything left for either fighter to prove.

Emelianenko will go down as the greatest heavyweight of all time. He remained unbeaten for nearly a decade, and his title reign came at a time when Pride Fighting Championships had the best heavyweights in the world.

Coming from the world of professional wrestling, the expectations weren’t particularly high for Lesnar, but in only four years, he won the UFC title and became one of the biggest draws in the history of the sport.

White should still be commended for always striving to give fans the fights they want to see.

Despite the slim odds of the bout ever coming to fruition, he at least entertained the idea of the superfight.

There has been plenty of speculation that White was diligently working behind the scenes on putting the fight together. When asked if there was any truth to these rumors, White left fans with a cliffhanger.

“Could be,” he said.
