MONTREAL — Time does not heal all wounds. Sometimes it just leaves the wound open and raw. Such is the case concerning the wound Stephan Bonnar left UFC president Dana White with after Bonnar was popped for steroids following his loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 153 (via MMAjunkie.com).

Bonnar, a long-time favorite of White’s ever since his performance in the first-season finale of The Ultimate Fighter, took the fight with Silva on short notice, losing via technical knockout at 4:40 of Round 1.

As far as his feelings on the subject of Bonnar’s positive drug test, White offered, “It sucks. I think the thing that bums me out the most about the Bonnar thing is he didn’t tell me. I offered you this fight. He wasn’t planning on fighting. He said he was practicing to maybe do some pro wrestling and doing this stuff and whatever the excuse is. I’ve known Stephan for a long time, we have a great relationship, tell me. That’s the thing that disappoints me the most.”

The positive steroid test resulted in a one-year suspension for Bonnar, who announced his retirement from MMA following the defeat to Silva.

White did say that Bonnar had reached out to him, but that the call went unanswered, “I haven’t even answered his phone call. I don’t hate him, but I just don’t want to talk to him right now.”

As for Bonnar’s future with the UFC, White wouldn’t speculate as to if the positive steroid test would affect Bonnar appearing on UFC television broadcasts where he is sometimes employed as an analyst.

It should also be noted that this is not the first positive steroid test for Bonnar. His first positive test came after a loss to Forrest Griffin at UFC 62
