Since making the announcement regarding the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil, UFC president Dana White is optimistic over its potential success.
While conducting an interview with MMAWeekly.com, White said he is confident the success of the show can have a positive impact on the culture and economy of Brazil.
“I think that The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil is going to be extremely successful here,” White said. “I think the amount of talent that is going to be cultivated in Brazil from The Ultimate Fighter alone is going to be phenomenal. I think you’re gonna see a lot of young people in Brazil get into mixed martial arts and training.”
In addition to expanding the reality series onto South American soil, the UFC announced that fellow Brazilian’s Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva would serve as opposing coaches, according to MMAjunkie.com.
The premise of the series will be primarily in Brazil, and White believes it will bring more exposure to mixed martial arts, which is already gaining a strong following in Brazil.
“When you think about it, not everyone can be professional soccer players, not everybody can play on a professional soccer team. A lot of people can get into the UFC and make a good living or become a world champion someday,” he said via MMAWeekly.com
