It didn’t even take a week for Dana White‘s beef with Justin Timberlake to go “bye bye bye.”

The pop icon and former ‘N Sync front man gave the UFC President a call recently after being subjected to some harsh criticism in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

In the article, White called Timberlake a “d–khead” for giving his kids the cold shoulder backstage at a Nickelodeon Awards show:

Recently me and my wife were at Nickelodeon Awards and we were backstage with the Black Eyed Peas in their dressing room hanging out. First of all, this thing is in L.A., so every guy on the planet wants to get their kids backstage with all the people that are back there. They had Bieber, Selena Gomez, all these people are back there. So my kids are back there and they’re taking pictures with all these people and stuff. There [are] no other kids backstage. No other kids. Just my kids, and I think I have Lorenzo’s daughter with me, too.

This was a few years ago. You name it, A-list, all the A-listers that the kids would love are backstage. The biggest d—head back there was Justin Timberlake. Just such a complete jack off, yeah. Just couldn’t have been a bigger d—. I don’t know if he’s a UFC fan or not, but I’m not a big Timberlake fan. Takes two seconds to say hi to a kid. Takes two seconds. I never run by anybody. If you’re a fan of the UFC and you like it or your kids like it, why would I not want to talk to you? Why would I not?

It didn’t take the story long to catch fire in the headlines and make its way back to Timberlake, who immediately called White to squash the beef.

The contents of the phone conversation are unknown, but in a Twitter post, White seemed to be in good spirits after an apparent heart to heart with “JT.”

It’s great to finally see a happy ending in a brief spat between an MMA star and Hollywood celebrity, which certainly wasn’t the case in the 2012 feud between Ronda Rousey and Kim Kardashian.

Despite their celebrity status, MMA fighters separate themselves from other stars with an unrivaled accessibility to fans.

You could go to every game of your favorite sports team for several years and never meet any of the players, but when the UFC comes to town, there’s a great chance you’ll meet several stars and leave with pictures and autographs.

White has always been about acknowledging the fans, which is why he was so upset with Timberlake in the first place.

There is definitely a moral to take away from this story: When all else fails, you can always count on Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.
