With UFC 137 only a few days away, there hasn’t been as much attention focused on news outside the UFC, including Viacom’s recent purchase of Bellator and the future of Strikeforce.

UFC president Dana White spoke about his recent meeting with Showtime, the home of Strikeforce, and discussed the situation with MMAfighting.com’s Ariel Helwani.

“I met with Showtime yesterday, and I had a great meeting with them,” White told Helwani. “I’m jumping in. The way that it works, and I’ve explained this before, is that Lorenzo and I divide and conquer. We’re both so busy. We’re working on so much stuff and I think sort of to get this deal moving, you needed the kinder, gentler side of the UFC in there. Now, I am going to go in there and close it.”

“We sat down in a room and we talked, and I think that we had a great conversation,” White continued. “I think that we moved the ball forward, and we’ll see what happens. There is no deal done. There is nothing done. I just think we had a great meeting yesterday.”

Despite “moving forward” with the UFC-Strikeforce merger from earlier this year, White insists the San Jose based organization isn’t going anywhere.

“We’re exclusive with Fox, but yeah, there is a chance that Strikeforce lives,” White said.
