While heated rivals Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier don’t agree on much, they appeared to have the same reaction to Rashad Evans being brutally knocked out by Glover Teixeira during this past Saturday’s UFC On FOX 19 event in Tampa, Florida.
Jones and Cormier, who were scheduled to meet at UFC 197 this month before Cormier pulled out due to injury, making the new UFC 197 main event an interim title bout between Jones and Ovince Saint Preux, each took to social media to comment on Evans’ brutal knockout loss on Saturday night.
“Can’t allow Glover Teixeira to just walk you down,” wrote D.C. “Rashad Evans, my brother keep your head up! Love you bro!”
Jones, who has had a rocky relationship with Evans over the years, also offered some kind words to the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and his former Jackson/Winkeljohn teammate.
“Yeah, I actually felt really bad for him” wrote Jones of Evans’ loss this past Saturday. “I’m sure he trained really hard for that fight.”
