UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has suffered an injury that will hold him out of his UFC 197 fight against Jon Jones on April 23, according to BJPenn.com.
ESPN.com’s Brett Okamoto confirmed the news.
The injury will cancel the rematch of their UFC 182 bout in January 2015, when Jones defeated Cormier for the light heavyweight title.
There has been no word on the type of injury Cormier suffered or whether Jones will remain on the UFC 197 card.
It’s been a tough week for the duo that was set to headline the card, as Jones was arrested Tuesday for violating his probation, per TMZ.
