You’ve met ‘Mystic Mac’, but ladies and gentleman, meet ‘Mystic Ed’.
Ahead of his historic meeting with UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor at UFC 205, UFC 155-pound champ Eddie Alvarez recently spoke to FOX Sports to discuss the upcoming fight in New York.
‘The Underground King’s’ opponent McGregor is known for making some rather accurate predictions when it comes to how and when he’ll finish his opponent in the Octagon, but this time Alvarez took the opportunity to make a prediction of his own:
“I think we do it under the nine-minute mark,” Alvarez said. “Big, big heavy shots, he goes down and then submission.
“I can see it ending much like the (Nate) Diaz fight where I land the heavy shot and then I finish with a submission.”
Alvarez would go on to question the Irishman’s heart inside the Octagon, claiming he knows ‘Notorious’ has some quit in him and he’ll use the massive stage at Madison Square Garden to expose just that to mixed martial arts (MMA) fans worldwide:
“From what I’ve seen in the past and what he’s done in the past, (his heart) is very questionable and I’m not the only one who’s questioned it,” Alvarez said. “I think he has quit in him and I think it takes a tad of adversity and him to get into a little bit of a fight to pull it out of him.
“On November 12, I’m going to pull it out of him and I’m going to show it to millions of people and the crowd. Everybody’s going to see it. We’re going to reveal the quit.”
Alvarez and McGregor will meet in the main event of UFC 205 live on pay-per-view (PPV) for the lightweight title, from the Madison Square Garden arena in New York City on November 12, 2016.
