A featherweight bout between well known fighters Chan Sung Jung, aka “The Korean Zombie”, (10-3) and Rani Yahya (15-6) was confirmed by Yaha’s manager Wallid Ismail.
The fighters will meet at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 23: Fight for the Troops 2 event at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas on Jan. 22nd.
Sherdog.com confirmed the news with Ismail on Friday.
Jung, who earned his notoriety for his three round war with Leonard Garcia at WEC 48, has lost his last two fights and sports a 1-3 record in his past four. He was knocked out in his last appearance after opponent George Roop delivered a head kick in the second round. Since then Jung has stated he would not follow his “Korean Zombie” style ever again.
2007 ADCC World submission champion Yahya has also lost his last two bouts, having been dfeeated by Takeya Mizugaki at WEC 48 and Joseph Benavidez at WEC 45. Yahya, a former WEC bantamweight title contender had been on a three fight win streak, which included three straight “Submission of the Night” awards before the losses. So far the Brazilian is just a 4-3 with the WEC promotion.
