Felipe Arantes
A couple of Brazilian featherweight fighters appear set to clash this June as Felipe ‘Sertanejo’ Arantes (1-4-1, 2NC) and Godofredo ‘Pepey’ Castro (9-1) were named as opponents for UFC on FUEL TV 10.
Brazilian news agency Tatame.com announced the match on Tuesday evening.
UFC on Fuel TV: Nogueira vs. Werdum (aka UFC on FUEL TV 10) is expected to take place on June 8, 2013 at Ginásio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Brazil. TUF Brazil coaches Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum are expected to headline in a heavyweight bout.
Arantes is 1-1-1 in his three Octagon appearances having fought to a split draw in June of last year versus Milton Vieira at UFC 147. Prior to that Arantes picked up his first UFC win by defeating Antonio Carvalho by decision at UFC 142. ‘Sertanejo’ debuted at UFC 134, losing to Yuri Alcantara by decision.
Castro was a member of Team Belfort on the first season of TUF Brazil and competed in the featherweight finals at UFC 147. ‘Pepey’ faced Rony Mariano Bezerra in the final and wound up losing by decision to his fellow Brazilian. Castro then went on to appear at UFC on FX 7 last January, picking up a split decision victory against Milton Vieiera.
