Entering a big weekend for the UFC’s welterweight division Jorge Masvidal is reminding all that he’s one camp away from taking the champ’s head off.

Kamaru Usman, who defends his 170-pound strap later tonight (Sat. Feb. 13, 2021) at 258 live on ESPN+ PPV, last competed inside of the Octagon against Masvidal at UFC 251 back in July. Usman was able to defeat “Gamebred” via decision to reclaim his title (highlights HERE) and will now attempt his third-straight defense against Gilbert Burns in Las Vegas.

Ahead of tonight’s main event bout between Usman and Burns, Masvidal took to social media to send a message to the champ. Masvidal, who fought Usman on a week’s notice to save a massive “Fight Island” card, held little back in discussing his chances against the champion with a full camp.

“I took your nose on 6 days. 3 weeks I take the belt. Full camp I take your head. The Resurrection,” wrote Masvidal via Twitter.

Masvidal, who took his notoriety to massive heights in 2019, harnessed his momentum and turned it into a UFC welterweight title shot. Usman was able to stifle Masvidal’s usually potent attacks, but “Gamebred” still showed up to compete with little time to prepare.

With UFC president Dana White leaning towards a No. 1 contender’s bout between Colby Covington and Leon Edwards, Masvidal may have to wait a little longer to get his hands on Usman. That’s assuming Usman can defeat Burns tonight at UFC 258 and hold on to the title long enough to test “Gamebred” coming off a full camp.
