It’s been nearly a year since Georges St-Pierre hung up his gloves and vacated his welterweight title, but the world is still waiting to hear word of a return.

Less than a month after his controversial split-decision victory over Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 in November 2013, the man widely regarded as the greatest fighter to ever compete at 170 pounds decided he needed a break from the sport. The French-Canadian superstar would go on to cite a number of reasons for his departure, but the 33-year-old pound-for-pound great never officially closed the door on a possible return to the Octagon.

Throughout his self-imposed hiatus, the former welterweight king has traveled the globe and fulfilled various commitments, all the while the division he left behind has continued to thrive. A new champion was crowned when Johny Hendricks defeated Robbie Lawler at UFC 171 back in March, and a fresh wave of potential title contenders have emerged in St-Pierre’s absence.

Yet, while the 170-pound collective is looking more competitive than it has in years, the idea of “GSP” returning to the UFC has continued to linger.

That particular issue was recently addressed when Sherdog’s Jordan Breen caught up with the former champion in CraveOnline’s VIP Room at the Toronto Gentlemen’s Expo. In the interview, St-Pierre talks about enjoying his time outside of fighting and the current status of his break from competing inside the Octagon.
