Brazilian “Cowboy” Alex Oliveira made most of his co-main event clash with former UFC welterweight titleholder Carlos Condit earlier tonight (Sat., April 14, 2018) at UFC on FOX 29 from inside Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona, when he submitted “Natural Born Killer” in the second round via guillotine choke.
Despite filling in on less than two weeks notice for an injured Matt Brown, Oliveira was game from the opening bell. He ate some rough strikes throughout the first round and was nearly choked out via rear-naked choke, but the Brazilian hung in tough and poured it on Condit in the second frame. Oliveira caught Condit with a powerful upkick as “Natural Born Killer” came down from top position and really did some damage. Having Condit stunned, Oliveira was able to quickly grab a hold of his neck after the transition was over and proceeded to squeeze a bloody Condit until the veteran finally tapped.

With this performance, Oliveira locks down the biggest victory of his professional career. The extremely entertaining Brazilian continues to show that he’s a real force to fear at 170 pounds, especially when fighting as a filler and with the odds stacked against him. If he can put it all together it will be real interesting to see Oliveira test the likes of the welterweight top 10.
