Alexander Volkov delivered a staple finish earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 6, 2021) at UFC Vegas 18 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when “Drago” ended heavyweight veteran Alistair Overeem via second-round TKO (punch).
Overeem opened up the first round like he has in most of his recent fights by taking his time and feeling out his opponent. Unfortunately, Volkov was game from the beginning and started to pressure Overeem with combinations. Overeem’s face started to bloody as he struggled to gain the respect of “Drago.”
Volkov really started to open up in the second as he broke through Overeem’s defense with ease. Overeem tried to get inside of the Russian contender but Volkov shook him off and bloodied him up with more punches. A few moments later and Volkov landed a powerful left hook around Overeem’s guard that dropped the veteran. Volkov went to move in for insurance shots but the referee was already stepping in.
