Urijah Faber returned to the Octagon in epic fashion earlier tonight (Sat., July 13, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 13 live on ESPN+ from inside Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif., when he put a 46-second stop to rising bantamweight contender Ricky Simon via first-round knockout (punches).

Faber may have taken a moment or two to find his groove after such a long layoff but he eventually caught Simon with a ferocious right hand that planted the 26-year-old on the canvas. Faber instantly jumped on top for a wild ground-and-pound showcase that eventually found its way to Simon’s face. The referee saw enough and stepped in, as Faber seemed to land a few extra punches after the breakup.

With this performance, Faber pulls off one of the greatest moments of his storied career. The 40-year-old hadn’t competed in nearly three years yet still stopped one of the more promising young fighters in the bountiful bantamweight division. “The California Kid” will surely try to use this co-main event knockout finish as a way to land an even bigger fight moving forward, which is probably why he called out current UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo after the fight.
