Julian Erosa scored a massive upset victory earlier tonight (Sat., June 27, 2020) at UFC on ESPN 12 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the veteran submitted previously undefeated featherweight prospect Sean Woodson via third-round D’Arce choke. Woodson came into this fight as a -500 favorite.
Woodson controlled most of the action in the first round as he utilized his length and timing to bust Erosa up on the feet. Erosa was able to close the gap in the second and score some dirty strikes inside before earning a few hard-fought takedowns. In the third, Woodson sat Erosa down with a stiff punch but “Juicy J” kept coming. He was able to work his way inside again, scored another takedown, and eventually grabbed a hold of Woodson’s neck. From there, Erosa would lock up the tight D’Arce choke and force the prospect to tap.

With this performance, Erosa earns a big victory after taking this fight on short notice against one of the most physically imposing fighters at 145 pounds. Erosa had dropped his last three Octagon appearances before this fight so the win was much needed. Look for the promotion to give “Juicy J” another opportunity in the near future, especially if another fighter pulls out on short notice on an upcoming card.
