Former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Volkan Oezdemir made a big statement earlier tonight (Sat., Aug. 10, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 14 live on ESPN+ from inside Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay, when he demolished Swedish powerhouse Ilir Latifi via second-round knockout (punches).

Outside of a slamming takedown early in the first round, Latifi got beat to a bloody pulp from the opening bell, evident by Oezdemir’s 43 strikes through first five minutes compared to the Swede’s four. “No Time” followed his efforts up big time in the second round as he pressed the pace, landed combinations at will, and started to batter Latifi. Oezdemir finished piecing Latifi up along the cage when two left hands put the light heavyweight veteran down.

With this performance, Oezdemir shakes off a three-fight losing streak and regains some considerable momentum in the 205-pound division entering the final quarter of the year. Many believe the former title challenger actually won his split-decision loss to Dominick Reyes back in March so it will be interesting to see if UFC rewards him with a big fight after this performance.
