Former WEC lightweight champ Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis (16-2) will face one of the toughest fights in his career this summer when he takes on UFC featherweight title holder Jose Aldo.

“Jose (Aldo) brings problems to anybody. He is an athletic guy. He’s a student of the game. A black belt in Jiu-Jitsu. Doesn’t have to use his ground game in a fight. His striking is in the top of the lightweight…featherweight division. For me it’s intriguing, I’m excited to get ready for this fight. It’s going to push me to be my best.”

“My last two fights I had awesome performances against top level strikers and good guys in the lightweight division, so you put me in there with Jose Aldo it’s fireworks.”

The two are expected to meet in Brazil this August in the main event of UFC 163 in Rio de Janeiro.

Speaking to the TapouT Radio crew on Tuesday, Pettis talked about making the move down to 145-lbs after from lightweight as well as meeting one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
