Although he beat Stipe Miocic and lost to Alistair Overeem, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos recently made it clear that he believes Miocic will beat Overeem if the two meet for Miocic’s UFC Heavyweight Title later this year as rumored.
JDS spoke about a potential Miocic vs. Overeem UFC Heavyweight Title fight during his appearance on Ariel Helwani’s “The MMA Hour” at MMAFighting.com.
“If it happens, I’m going to give the advantage to Miocic again over Overeem,” dos Santos predicted Monday on The MMA Hour. “I don’t think Overeem has what it takes to beat Miocic. Miocic is really hard. Do you remember my fight against him, against Miocic? It was one of the toughest fights I’ve ever had. He hits very hard. He’s got really heavy hands, so I think when I watch Miocic fight and Overeem fight, I think Miocic is way better than him.”
“[Overeem] did very well against a very tough guy, Arlovski,” dos Santos said. “Actually, Overeem is coming from very good moments. He beat me, he beat Arlovski now, so he’s doing very well. But like I said, I give the advantage to Miocic.”
JDS concluded, “But you never know. It’s MMA. I’m sure Overeem has a lot of chances to be the next champion, but I think it’s going to be hard for him.”
