Although most casual MMA fans probably won’t be ‘shifting a few things around’ to make sure they catch this Friday’s Strikeforce Challengers card, long time observers might be interested in seeing how UFC vet Joe Riggs fares against Louis Taylor in the main event. Training partners of Riggs have consistently stated that the guy is a terrifying beast, and we’ve seen some of that like in his wins over Phil Baroni and Nick Diaz, but in other tilts he hasn’t exactly lived up to the hype (cue footage of loss to Diego Sanchez).

Riggs had been making some waves again, courtesy a 4 fight winning streak he was on, but in January he lost by UD to Xtreme Couture’s Jay Hieron. The fighter recently appeared on Sherdog’s “Beatdown” radio program, to discuss this Friday’s 182lb. catch-weight bout with Taylor, and it doesn’t sound like Riggs is too thrilled about going half a year plus without fighting.

“I’ve been training hard, but Strikeforce just didn’t give me a fight,” said Riggs. “I’ve been training, been on ‘Bully Beatdown’ on MTV and stuff like that, but I haven’t been able to fight. Strikeforce has been talking about this card in Phoenix for like five months and kept talking about it and I didn’t know it was going to be here for sure until like a month ago. I’ve been trying to fight, but they didn’t give me a fight.”

Dude wants to fight! Riggs also shared some of his less than kind thoughts on Strikeforce 135lb. women’s champion Sarah Kaufman; curious as to why? Head here.
