Floyd Mayweather would likely have the advantage over Conor McGregor in a boxing match. However, Joe Rogan doesn’t think it would be particularly close if the two were to battle in a mixed martial arts fight.

The UFC commentator discussed the difference in odds between the two styles.

“In a boxing match if you have $100 and you have to bet on someone the odds are most certainly going to favor Floyd Mayweather because it’s a boxing match,” Rogan said, per Damon Martin of Fox Sports. “If it’s a fight, it would be 100 million to one that Conor McGregor would [expletive] him up.”

If it was a fight, a MMA fight, it would be 100 million to one.”

McGregor’s professional background is exclusively in MMA, where he has a 21-3 record and is the current lightweight champion. Mayweather retired with an undefeated boxing record at 49-0.

Per Odds Shark, Mayweather would be a favorite in a potential matchup at minus-850, while McGregor currently sits at plus-525.

Even in a boxing match, which clearly favors the more experienced Mayweather, Rogan still has faith McGregor can make it a close battle:

Floyd Mayweather is a much better boxer, but Conor McGregor is dangerous as [expletive] and he has a really deceptive ability to move in and move out. He can cover distance very quickly. He can do so in a weird way. He can do so in a way where he might stun you. He might stun you and he might catch you early and he hits really [expletive] hard.

While there has been plenty of buzz about a fight between the two superstars, nothing official has been announced.

McGregor said on IFL TV this week they were “very close to inking it,” via Martin. A tentative date is planned for mid-September.
